oh dear me
BLACKPOOL have an incredible 38 players out of contract at the end of this season.
While 25 of those have further one-year options written into their deals, 13 will be able to walk free next summer.
Only three – Scott Robertson, Alberto Noguero and James Caton – are definitely tied to the club for at least another year.
And four of the starting 11 from Tuesday night’s 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest are in their option season and will be able to walk away from Bloomfield Road should a new deal not be signed in the meantime.
One of those is current skipper Alex Baptiste. The 26-year-old is regularly one of Pool’s top performers and his availability would no doubt spark interest from Premier League clubs.
But he says it’s something he has not thought about yet.
“I don’t know about my future to be honest. It’s not even crossed my mind yet,” admitted the defender.
“Obviously I’m in the last year of my contract and at some point I’ll worry about being in a job next season.
“All I’m focusing on is the team doing well at the moment. If we get chance to sit down and talk about the future, then I will.”
Baptiste has again been Blackpool’s best defender so far this season and was recently described by his manager as an “immovable object” in his starting 11.
Premier League football no doubt beckons in the future for the former Mansfield man but he hopes it can be in a Pool shirt.
“My main aim is to finish in the top two of the Championship. I hope I can play again in the Premier League for Blackpool.
“To come so close last season and get beaten in the final, I really don’t want to go back into the play-offs.”
In the absence of club captain Barry Ferguson in recent weeks, Baptiste has been handed the captain’s armband.
He admits he’s not a natural leader but hopes the responsibility can improve that side of his game.
He said: “People who know me off the pitch will tell you I’m not that vocal. Now I’m one of the senior players here, I need to start to be more vocal on the pitch.
“I’ve been here a long time, and it’s something I need to work on.
“But I do feel I can help a lot of my team-mates out and I should do it more often.”
- BOB Harris has returned to Blackpool after his month-long loan to Rotherham.
The 25-year-old made five appearances for the Millers and scored in their 3-0 win over Aldershot last weekend.

How on earth do you negotiate, from both sides, in that position. The fact that we may be Championship or Premier, the fact that some are getting on, the fact that we have too many, but who of the development squad will suddenly bloom.
If I am brutally honest, we have very few who a Premier league team would be interested in, despite what their agents may tell them. Many such as ( at their best) GTF, Crainey and Evo, are excellent in a Blackpool TEAM, playing Ollie's style, but as stand alone performers, not sure.
Stick with us lads, Karl, try to tie at least the regulars down to contracts, with big increases if we do get promoted, and let's not have 6 months of useless blxxdy agents upsetting our team with off the wall crap

Incredible stat that. I had no idea it was basically everyone. No mention of Ollie but I guess he is on a rolling contract.
Not really a good situation. Every club needs a core of players who are settled and focused on the team. Loyalty is a two way thing and teams take time to settle.
Likes to play the hard game our Karl doesn't he. He does come across like a victorian mill owner at times.

I have it on very good authority that Karl and Ollie are not getting on at the moment and that Karl is mad at the wage bill and inability to get at least 6/8 players out on loan for the season

Hope its just a squabble rather than anything long term. We do have a lot of players but surely the loan market is for a long term development thing rather than a quick fix for the wage bill. There's really no point bringing in players on a 1 year contract and then lending them out. Likewise no point having a player if he's never going to play 1st team football. Their value won't increase in the reserves! Its a waste of money. I'm surprised that Karl has let this situation arise though......he's a stickler for keeping things tight.

Can't help feeling we are at a crossroads here. Got to look after your key people Karl.
Blackburn would be a HUGE mistake for Ollie.

Whoooo!! cracks appearing and straight away its Karls fault. De ja vu springs to mind.
I have supported the Oystons since day one and will continue to do so because without them, believe me, we wouldnt have a club right now, or not as we know it anyway. Yes, they can be infuriating and yes, Karl is the most infuriating of them all sometimes but I would say to you all, be careful what you wish for.
UP THE POOL

But Sandy, Rule No.1 of supporting Blackpool is "It's always Karl's fault". Don't ever let the facts get in the way of that

The Oystons saved the club from the abiss and no-one can deny that. Ollie has brough a brand of football that works and is great for the fans and the club financialy. I'm sure Karl sees that.
I support Karl and Ollie. I just think that Karl has to realise that the club needs talent and sometimes you need to pay for it. His decision though!
One other point though. The players come here because of Ollie...... and despite Karl. If Ollie goes then we either pay more or lose the talent we have. Maybe both. Does Karl recognise that?
Unfortunately this season, in my new seat in the SE, I am surounded by morons that scream "shoot" every five minutes and other mind numbing comments like "Kick it" or "Get the ball". They simply have no idea at all and then have the cheek to moan about the general performance...even last Saturday!!!!!
If this is a cross section of "fans" then we really are in trouble.
It doesn't help when you hear of muppets having a go at Ollie in the pub when he's trying to have a meal with his wife. Just embarrasing!

expectations are just too high in some fans heads, its all part of ollies master plan for us to become underdogs again so we can get our mojo back. I will ignor ethat ollies odds are now 8/13 for the chicken pluckers job

I do feel better cheers! The statement im trying to make is Karl is letting his ego get in the way of business in the Ollie issue! They have a little squabble and Karl says jump, to the best manager this club has seen for years! Just petty! By the way my light bulb blew last night, bloody KARL!

The muppets having a go at Ollie on his down time with his family need to get grip and a life! The problem we have is our own success, Our home gates have tripled in the last 20 years and doubled in the last few years, and with success comes expectation! These supporters that have joined the tangerine rollercoaster in the last few years, i would assume are of a certain age and no nothing of some of the dross some of us on here have had to endure over the last 30 years. When i was a lad going to Bloomers with my dad and brothers, we were turning up in hope more than expectation but that was the buzz but i'm afraid this is no longer the case and supporters expect! The reason why a lot of us on here, get excited with everything going on at the club now is simple were not used to it, apart from the last few years and the new recruits unfortunatly have just had it tooooooooooo goooooooooood!

Your spot on rob I remember turning up at Bloomfield as a lad hoping for a draw or at worst not to much of a heavy defeat lol. We have to some extant become a victim of our own success.
its been a bit like a weather forecast at Bloomfield the last 30 odd years. Dull and overcast with the odd break in the cloud for sunshine lol and i would not swap it for the world
