(originally) Charlie's... ..hopes for next season.
As we all know, Manchester United, (who are now looking at Luka Modric to replace Scholes), Spurs, Villa, and Liverpool are being strongly linked with the Blackpool talisman.
Yet CA is nothing if not loyal and he's quick to praise the Club for resurrecting his career. In just thirty months at Bloomfield Road, CA has already played more first-team games than in his six years at Ibrox.
He has refused to talk about the possibility of leaving 'Pool, when he is still on a year's contract with the option of a further 12 months. (on this 'contract' I have heard different elsewhere.)
(quote) " After all Blackpool have done for me, it would be disrespectful to talk about the possibility of playing elsewhere......so I owe the club a lot."
Going on, he says: "With time still on my contract, the future is out of my hands. If anyone does make an offer for me, it's up to chairman Karl Oyston and manager Ian Holloway to decide the next move."
The 'Pool have certainly done a lot for Charlie - but he's done plenty for them. In 98 games for the club, he's scored an incredible 35 goals, which is a stat a striker would be proud of, never mind a midfielder. It's been a long, hard season, CA admits, on stating that he shouldn't have played for Scotland against the ROI, as he didn't want to let anyone down, but... "Apart from being jaded, I was carrying a back injury which restricted me more than i thought it would."
"Now I'll reflect on the whole season........pleased with most of my contribution, you can always improve......so that's what I'll be thinking about for the next couple of weeks. Then I'll return to Blackpool and see what the future holds for me." (quote, CA)
We await the outcome with bated breath and with trepidation......

sounds like he has told his agent to finally shut up. and basically he could still be at bloomers for another 2 years.
personally i would offer him a contract, 3 years 30k a week will not make a big dint in the money coming down from the prem. with a clause he can leave if a offer of 10 million is put on the table.
I don't think liverpool are looking anymore due to interest elsewhere, plus is going to be a real crazy summer transfer market for the big boys so charlie could find himself down the pecking order

£30,000per week for 3 years = £4.6MIL OR buy in someone else at £1.5mil to replace him and pay £10,000 per week for 3 years=£3MIL in total, I think it would be an easy choice to make.

That's why we bought in Andy Reid from Sunderland for £1million until the end of the season -
to replace Charlie at the January window....... don't forget.
and what's happened to him? Released on a Free.
Though I can see your point, Whit. Rather have Charlie at that price than anyone else for a £million+ less.
What's a Million nowadays, anyway?

I have checked yeni and all i can find about Reid is that he was a loan and went back to Sunderland...
plus Karl has to workout how much love he would gain from all those that complain about him all the time.
Come on karl it makes sense and i know your spies read this forum every now and then.
If of course you did do something like that for charlie, the itstangerine guys would like a hospitality box for a whole year lol lol

I believe what happened was that Reid had six months left on his Sunderland contract and an agreement between us and Sunderland enabled Sunderland to pay off the six month remaining on his contract, so what we did in effect was to buy him for the remainder of the season with an option to offer a contract at the end, an option we didn't take up, allegedly.

He is a Legend not only class on the pitch class off it aswell.
Back to the £30,000 a week why not give him £10,000 aweek and £2 mil signing on fee that way we dont break the wage structure. so its almost like signing a new players anyway. The only thing is if his ambition overtakes his loyalty, if some of the big boys come in offering more money and a chance to win medals he will have to decide does he want to play every week and be the main man or maybe play a bit part (depending which club it is) and get starts in the Carling cup and the lesser teams in the Prem.

looks like moyes brother has popped his head up again. 4 million your having a laugh Everton.
Everton have joined Liverpool and Manchester United in the race to sign Blackpool captain Charlie Adam this summerl.
Toffees manager David Moyes believes Adam's drive and creativity would improve the Everton side and has made it known he would be interested in completing a deal for his fellow Scot.
Everton's chances of landing the playmaker will undoubtedly be boosted by the fact he is represented by Moyes' brother, Kenny, as well as the prospect of regular first-team football at Goodison Park.
Everton would hope to pay around £4 million for the Adam but Blackpool are believed to still be asking for £8m despite their relegation from the Premier League.
Merseyside rivals Liverpool have shown the most interest in signing Adam although their desire to push through a deal may dampen with the anticipated signing of Jordan Henderson from Sunderland.

Couldn't WE all 'make good use of a £million', Shopkeeper, but the context the phrase was used in was in terms of Premiership and Championship football expenditure......... seeemples. YL.

The latest I got on the CA saga was that King Kenny was still in the market for him despite who he has already bought (thingy-bob from Sunderland).
And rumoured at around £12m.

If Jordan Henderson is worth £20m then Charlie is worth £40m!!! seen JH a few times on sky and yeh he did ok but £20m no wonder Big Niall packed his bags and drove him to Melwood!!! Surley Charlie is worth more than £12m. As everyone keeps saying we got him on the cheap let him go blah blah blah. Well Phil jones and Jordan Henderson are both products of their respective academies, so cost nowt, plus its not as though Charlie is 30+ and over the hill!!!! I just think that if we have to let him go, lets get the best deal for our beloved club!!! UTP!!!

£8-£10m what a joke, don't think this can be true, i know were in the championship now, but Adam is twice the player Henderson is. why oh why do we sell our best player to grace Bloomers for the last 5 decades at a cut price deal.......

To be honest, I've got an (un-) funny feeling re CA to Liverpool.
Kenny is re-building the Liverpool team on youthful energy, movement, and the ability to run opponents ragged - there's pace, athleticism, and mobility, which, in a sense, demonstrates KD's vision as to how Liverpool will now play - a pretty high-tempo game, with a vibrancy in the midfield and attack..
Looking at Kenny's gains and targets, there's Henderson at right or centre-mid, Downing possibly, Charlie also in the middle, together with Suarez and Kuyt, all in a 4-3-3 formation.
Would CA be able to fit into all this, like Carroll not been able to, so far?
I've some doubts, and therein lies the reasoning behind my preference for him to go to Manchester United.
I'd gladly hold my hand up if I'm proved wrong - he may turn out the greatest thing since haggis was invented, so good luck to the lad, and thanks, Charlie - it's been great having you play for us, and it's been a pleasure watching you.

There's some talk of Shelvey coming on a 12 month loan deal as part of the transfer. If true could be a good move but it could just be chatter

I saw that too, this morning (or late yesterday), though with Shev coming this way reduces Charlie's price somewhat - I think it was Shev + £6-8million.

If i'm honest, i know we need to re-build the squad and i'm not saying jonjo's not a good player, but......... once again based on Henderson's fee of £20m.......... and we sell Charlie for £8m and only get the player on loan for 12 months...... Criminal...... Personally id rather have £20m off Liverpool and let Ollie go and buy jonjo if he wants or let him work his own magic and find that unknown gem out there.
