Ireland as an island within the British Isles, might not be seen as such by the Irish, then the island that consists of England/Scotland/Wales and the Isle of Lewis.

If it's looked at from that point of view, I wouldn't disagree with Whit.
Alternately -
Lewis/Harris Skye Shetland Mainland....
in no particular order.

Q#149
When the Titanic sunk, survivers were picked up by the Carpathia, but which ship was nearest to the Titanic but did not respond due to not having the radio on to hear the distress call.

California or Lithuania - can't remember which.
All I know is that the film 'Titanic' will be re-released in April this year to commemorate the 100th anniv. of its sinking.

It was the Californian the reason they turned the radio off was because they had a spat with the 2 wireless operators on the titanic who got paid for every telegram they sent but the Californian operator carried on cutting across their messages
so yeni question is?

'Galopago' (from the islands off the west coast of South America) or the 'Fuego' or summat - two nice southern hemisphere names... Edit:
Damn! 'Antipodean' is Australian/NZ...... Even I should know that, my wife's school teacher lives in the Antipods - Auckland, New Zealand. 'Christchurch' then, 'Melbourne', 'Canberra'? I'll go thru every name I know down there till I get it! 4Stands - question's time up is at 3:51.pm (or 15:51 in real time) and, as Whit states, Wee Ollie's half-time talk.

Darwin(or port darwin) was named after Charlie D by the crew of the Beagle on their third long voyage, although he didn't actually visit it himself.

Post by yenilira on Feb 4, 2012 15:28:54 GMT 1
We're still on Darwin's 'second voyage' I take it?
OK, what is, or was, the "Antipodean connection" that this ship has/had with 'HMS Beagle'?
None of the names I've given above?
