We have the 'Joke Thread' so now here's the 'Quiz Thread'.
Before we start, I suggest we have a few ground rules to ensure that it's all fair and above board, and that everyone gets an even chance to participate:
Each question runs for 24 hours, or sooner if answered correctly.
The person who answers correctly gets his/her opportunity to ask 'The Question' for within the above time limit.
If no-one answers correctly within the given time limit (ie. 24hours), that person gets another chance to test our grey cells.
There is no limit as to the type of question – any subject but football. (sensible questions though).
As the saying goes, then, “here's your starter for ten”:
In music, what is, or was, the “silver machine” that Hawkwind sing about in their 1972 hit?
YL.

In the Rusya Federasyonu, just north of the Mogolistan border, nearest big town is Irkutsk, and east of the Vitim Platosu - I am using a Turkish atlas, by the way. YL. (For the unitiated, that was - "Russian Federation, just north of the Mongolian border, Irkutsk, and east of the Vitim Plateau.") p.s. Fook Google - ask ME.

Siberia is an extensive region constituting almost all of northern Asia Comprising the central and eastern portion of the Russian Federation. Encompassing much of the Eurasian Steppe, the territory of Siberia extends eastward from the Urals to between the Pacific and Arctic basins and southward from the Arctic Ocean to the hills of north-central Kazakhstan and the national borders of Mongolia and China. Siberia makes up about 77% of Russia's territory (13.1 million square kilometres), but has only 28% (40 million people) of Russia's population. Still, it's the Russian Federation - Rusya Federasyonu. The Question - ?Am I right. or am I right ?

Sure, Caspian name is "C- Sea", but technically, it is an inland sea, which is in turn, technically a lake.
So in effect it's my turn again....

Just over twelve hours to go, and the clock is ticking..............
Methinks "24" hours is a bit too long to wait for answers and doesn't keep the game flowing, so if there's no objection, I will change that to 6 hours...?

I'm sure you'll find it on that, Sher:
This lake is just north of Ulan-Batur, by the Russo-Mongolian border - it's the biggest bit of blue thereabouts.

Lake Baikal ('Baykal Dagi in T. and in the Russian Federation) is larger than Taiwan, and that and Laos is a good few hundred miles away to the south-east.
