Right this is going to piss some people off but we still live in a democracy so after taking a break and watching and reading everything that has been going on between fans and the oyston's even fans against fans, its time for some home truths or call it my view point.
Let me just make clear this is not a Pro Oyston post just observations from a fan that has been going to Bloomfield every home game since 1978.
1. This is going to annoy people the most but the sooner people understand the sooner they might be able to move on and its a simple as this THEY ARE NEVER GOING TO SELL UNLESS A SERIOUS CASH OFFER IS MADE and besides all the hype, no Latvian business man is going to ride in on his charger and buy the club (I wish I could be proved wrong on this fact)
2. What they have done regarding lack of investment after the premiership is totally disgraceful if they had even had allocated just 10% of the windfall to investing in infrastructure most people would have been happy and the club would have been more attractive to potential players and also a increase in performance level of the team, But nothing illegal has happened, very questionable but they stay within the confines of English law.
3. Its a business not a football club, even though I have never seen a business run so badly in my life and one that seems intent on wiping out its customer base at the end its their choice so sadly they can do what they want with the money its theirs and not ours, Having said that and while it might not help us the premier league and fa need to find away to ring fence any windfalls from the premiership for the sole use of the football side or we will not be the last club to go through this sort of torrid 3/4 years.
4. Its time the oystons dropped all legal action against everybody and just move on, Karl has said he has rhino skin when it comes to comments even if they are vile at times, Its simple Karl we are a small town football club with passionate fans but we don't have the social media coverage or press coverage as the big boys like man utd and you complain about the way your family are abused and atmosphere between yourself and fans. But your the idiot constantly drawing it to the wider worlds attention then stoking it by stupid stunts like licence plates and letting your kids mock fans. In my humble opinion you need to grow up more than anybody else and it's not the way a serious chairman of a business should behave.
5. The manager what can I say the poor guy is on a hiding to nothing and its your fault Karl! how can you expect fans no matter how cynical or angry they are because of your stance on local media now for over 100 years the gazette has been given access to the club management and players. the clubs attempt to sell the tangerine player and only work with selected media partners is truly pathetic and doing more damage to the club you are effectively fanning the flames. Yet you still use the paper to advertise your estate agents if the gazette got petty and refused your advertising how would you feel? but thankfully Johnston press is run correctly the press have been the voice of debate for a long time in this democratic society.
If you actually gave a interview your self and just told the truth rather than trying to fog the issues it would help. many people would not be happy at all but it would clear the air for example if you honestly think the training ground is fit for purpose come out and say it after all its been 14 years now since the club announced it was their next priority after all its your money and business but your customers have the right to the truth and no doubt it would really enrage people but they finally would have the truth.
6. Personally I think we have the right manager and have returned to a model that actually brought us success hence the return of 2 year contracts with 1 year option and this seems to have been forgotten by lots of fans at the end of the day we got to the premiership with players nobody had really heard of and loan players like DJ and Coleman.
But we have lost one very important ingredient and that's the heart of the club we no longer have some seasoned pros at the club that have been there a while to help the new players buy into the strange way the club does things. personally I would sign southern and angle even if they just warm the bench because the club needs that experience and pride back in the dressing room.
We seem to go of this track and wasted time paying what by club standards high wages to the likes of Miller and Chopra to name a few, these sort of signings are past their sell and use by date and panic signings which again links back to lack of investment in structure as we must have one of the worst scouting set ups around. On a local level I notice that all the best young kids from local junior football are snapped up by the likes of Liverpool and Everton and even Preston they are the future and we don't seem to care even though we have a academy.
7. Youth players why for the love of god do we bring them through only to piss them off when it comes to offering professional terms? surely if it is felt they going to go on and become even better and have a high future in the game it is more beneficial for your business to get them signed up and sell them up later on as they are just a commodity to your business.
8. The bid from BST is going to be refused we all know that and I have greatly admire the hard work they have done on trying to get a dialogue with the club and it is time you swallowed your pride and invite their chairman onto the board they have the ear of far more fans than BSA who are just a joke these days and really don't express the fans views again this would help the situation with your customers the FANS.
9. And finally a way forward is simple to a outsider looking in and your not going to sell so the best option is to stand down and appoint a new chairman that has no connection in any shape or form with your family. As the football club is a separate business which in theory should be reporting to the holding company Segesta just set a reasonable budget for the year and step back the club can report weekly to the Segesta board on trading and financial state of affairs to allow the holding company to keep track. But clear goals should be set and at the end of the season if the club ends in profit at least 70% to stay within the club and the rest sent to the holding company.
After all you have said in the past your a rugby fan and not really interested in football it would also free up your time and stop putting your family in the firing line at every home match but it has to be a realistic budget and no meddling at all from yourself and Owen. Just sit back and wait for any profits that come your way and if not cover the short fall because that is what owning a football club means. return some hope to the fans please.
Well that just my view and feel free to disagree after all its a democracy but personal attacks on anybody will not be tolerated on this site all I ask is people keep it civil
