I knew before leaving home yesterday it was going to be a mare of a journey, tree blown down on the M2 at Faversham, a detour through the old market town, then the queues you could see way ahead for the Dartford crossing, the bridge being out of action because of the gales and finally then having to go into the south east of London to cross at the Blackwell tunnel and out through east London.
Arrived just before the start, made contact with some other Pool fans, clapped for the minute in memory of Sir Tom, which brought back memories of him and our own Sir Stan which in turn reminded me of my first visit in 1962 to Portman road and how Ray Charnley scored in the last few minutes to earn us a draw.
I was looking forward to the match, one reason never seen us win there and two some new faces I had just read about on the forums but not yet seen play and I was not disappointed.
First off I think overall the team played with spirit and an eagerness I hadn't seen earlier in the season, they went for every ball, yes gave it away a couple of times but nevertheless I was encouraged by their performance, the game could have gone either way and thought in the last five minutes how harsh it would be to lose now and Portsmouth away in 2011 came to mind.
I thought the defence had a good day and Halliday who came on early first half slotted in well, Keogh never stopped running and the terrier like Perkins reminded me of someone we had back in the sixties.
Ok we haven't won for some time but I thought we did well to get a draw at Portman road, with all the turmoil we have had this season it was a good result, the elusive win will come
very soon I am sure and can we please KO have BF made manager until end of season, I am sure that will encourage the team still further.
