Firstly, very sorry to see Crainey going to Wigan, I shall forever think of the fittest LB I have ever seen, bombing up and down the field all game, one second crashing a cross in, 15 seconds later in a last gasp tackle on the edge of his own box. Those who slagged him off for lack of fitness never watched how he ran himself into the ground for the cause.
So we are left pretty much with Gilks as the last of our premiership heroes. Thinking about Crains cleared in my mind that the team would have to change, because the style that won us our promotion and the hearts of the Footy watching public is, for better or worse, no more. So many of these players who have left this season were at their most successful playing the all out attacking football, but possibly not as good at, or even wanted to, playing the conventional boring way.
As we see an input of new players, probably lower league up and comers and a few old lags, I think it so important that Incey reflects that, whilst he does not believe in Ollie's style, the single factor that set Blackpool apart was a close knit, die for each other, team. Remember how we smiled at Ollie taking them to the Casino, the Sandcastle, bowling, it knit them together and allowed a performance beyond their perceived ability. The backbone of Baps, Gnasher, Evo and Crains has gone, but, if we are to succeed again under the constraints the Chairman sets, he needs to have a core built around Barry Ferguson, who can lift and carry the rest.
Bit serious for me, sorry, maybe reflects my view of life at the moment
