WANDERERS have beaten clubs from the Championship and the Premier League to the signing of Blackpool defender Alex Baptiste on a free transfer.
The 27-year-old defender had several options on the table, including newly-promoted Hull City, but it is understood that he has agreed a three-year deal with the Whites this morning, subject to a medical.
Baptiste – who skippered Blackpool last season and had the option of another year at Bloomfield Road – can play in a variety of positions across the back four, but primarily as a right back.
Thank you for the last few years Baps and good luck

Shall miss him. I think being made captain this year didn't help him, but remember him from before we were famous and he always tried hard and impressed the heck out of me. I think we sometimes forget that our defensive frailties were so often caused by him and Evo/Cathy being left isolated whilst everyone else bombed forward.
Thanks, and good luck
Guys, we really need someone with some passion and guts, cos we seem to have lost them all. Who now bleeds Tangerine?

I agree. Don't think we've seen the best of him so far, but an excellent creative mid who needs a good run.
More concerned about our back four. Just as we got it right it looks like we may have to replace the lot! Bob Harris can do a good job on the left but the rest....??

got to agree bloody typical we finally seem to have a back 4 and replacements on the bench that had stopped leaking like a bucket with no bottom on a rainy day and now we could be back to square one

Sorry but for me he should have been sacked the moment he started picking fights with other players in the dressing room

he is probably trying to make the most of his last move lol
Baptiste is available on a free transfer when his contract at Blackpool expires next month.
Derby were interested in the 27-year-old before being put off by what Rush described as "eye-watering" salary requests, and Baptiste looks set to join Bolton instead.
"He is someone that we asked about," Rush told the Derby Telegraph.
"I spoke to his agent and with the best will in the world, the money he was asking for was eye-watering. I don't think many clubs in our division could afford him.
"There is a difference between ambition and bad management. I don't think Derby fans would have thanked me for bringing him in on that kind of money."
