Well like all of you I certainly hope so, just the thought of going to some of the League one grounds gives me indigestion.
There are thirteen games left for the season and in my mind we should be able to get 14 points and with 54 in total enough to stay up. Were will they come from, well that is debatable but assuming we get nil against Leicester on Saturday and nil against Watford away, Brighton, Blackburn and Forest away, then I would go for a draw against Bristol, Birmingham, Palace, Burnley, and Bolton and wins against Peterborough, Wednesday and Derby.
I have heared it mentioned that this is similar to 1978 after Allan Brown departed the club, but to be honest the two season could not be more diferrent, with this season a dip in form and the possibility of relegation alive and well in February while in 1978 we were still in 7th or 8th position and with little or no thought of the drop. Even after watching the last game of the season at Brighton when we lost 2-1, the last time I saw Micky Walsh score for us we were still about sixth from bottom and although several teams below us had one or two games in hand the likleyhood of going down hadn't entered our heads as it appeared very unlikely that it could happen.
How the squad will look this summer will be determined by our end of season performance, a lot hinges on the next 13 games, so good luck Mr Ince Senior, I am sure you can pull it off.

Im trying to be really positive, but after last nights result, we are now in the brown stuff and yes, we are in a relegation battle! We've been on a slide since the defeat away to Leicester and since Xmas quite alarmingly! What worries me is, as i posted on another thread, i said with our pitch and home form if that suffers, we need to pick up points on the road and that ain't happening! Sorry to say it but we have the quality to get out of this situation but for me you can blame all the off field antics all you like these guys are pro footballers and some have their heads somewhere else!

I just want this season to be over and for us to get enough points to try again next year in the Championship.A major change in direction is required if we are not to return to League One within a few seasons at best. The club is not investing and we have difficulty in attracting good managerial staff and players because of this. We have a good squad, albeit on short contracts, and they are probably looking for options elsewhere. Going through the motions but no long term ambition with BFC. Its pretty clear that Karl has no love of players and they don't feel wanted or valued. He sees them like expensive employees when he wants them on a "commission only" basis and then can't understand why there is no loyalty when the prospect of a promotion bonus evaporates. I just wonder how, or even if,we can pull out of this nose dive. I just wish Karl would show us some positive intent. Fat Chance!
Sorry for being so gloomy

I have no doubt that just a few seasons back when Larry left very quickly just before Christmas, loan players went back to their clubs end of the month, we then went out to Torquay in the cup early January and then away at Coventry lost after Dj put us in front, it all looked pretty bleak then just a few points above the relegation drop, we we came through it and we will this time, with luck.

Pete no reason to apologise, in the words of Benitez, the stats don't lie, FACT!!!! Our form is appalling and only hard work will get us out the s*ite and with players already looking beyond this season, coz theirs that many out of contract, it's going to affect their heads and why would they put the effort in or risk getting injured when they ain't going to be around next season, this stems of the stench of Karl and his lack of ambitions for the football club, i've seen this coming for months and stated numerously and all i get is Karl is doing this and that, well i don't see it and i won't till he's gone!!!!Sorry guys!

Rob, I am sure if we had just gone that extra mile in January 2011, we would not be in today's predicament, but what has happened has happened and we can't change history or indeed the owners, well not until the remainder of the parachute money has arrived, then it is anyone's guess.
In the meantime we have the team and manager to support however hard it may be with the other items not resolved, pitch, training ground and dare I say it a striker.
Perhaps a lot of the stuffing has been knocked out of me regarding football in England but being in the Championship is fine by me, I have lost the appetite for the Premiership, so remaining in this league however difficult it is going to be in the coming weeks is essential.

Can't disagree with anything said above. I have spent this disastrous period keep expecting a change in fortune, followed by a terrific run. Logic has been, we still have a great squad, with 2 of the best wingers in the championship, exciting midfielders, and a goalie who actually is pretty good.
I guess they are professionals, but have not known which way they are going, and have to be aware of the battles between Karl and his managers, no one has got contract extensions, their careers are short, and they don't want to risk their health. I think the other thing about the squad, and Whit mentioned it in another thread, is the lack of a genius, a spark, a sheer bloody minded do or die midfield general. Our success was based on Ollie's tactics and Charlie's skill, drive, leadership, bringing along the "journeymen" to a higher level. The start of this season was all about sheer speed and accuracy of passing, we didn't keep it up, and hadn't the big unit up front to convert the chances from the other forwards.
I freely admit to not being a BF fan, but in a relegation scrap, as we haven't got Gnasher, someone has to step up to the mark, lead by example, shout, scream, tackle like a demon, get in the opposition faces, and stop us being a pushover. The mid HAS to be two hard tacklers and one fancy Dan, Incey and Matty MUST tackle back like they did at the end of last season, and I still think we have to put a big unit up front, is there really no one in the huge development squad?
I think we will survive by the skin of our teeth, and how sad is that with this squad?
And finally, my Fellow Tangerines, the club is bigger than anyone of us ( including karl) has been here for 125 years and will outlast us all. Most of us have known bitter defeat more than success, which makes it harder at the moment, but we will come though, we will find another Ollie, we will find another Charlie, and we will get back to the promised land. COME ON YOU POOOOOLLLLLLLL !

11 points off the Play-Offs, a win on Saturday to start a run of good results and we could be right back in it

I think we will manage somehow to avoid the dreaded drop even if it comes down to last day escape. we have good footballers at the club to keep us out of trouble, but we do have way to many and when we avoid the drop a bloody big broom needs sweeping through the squad. Nobody has developed from the development squad at the end of the day, something was allowed to be created then the creator left for another club and ever since its been a mess. lets get back to a squad of 32 players not 54 and get a team back in the reserve leagues rather than all these behind doors match rubbish.

Well that's one point towards the target, better than a kick in the teeth and all said and done not a bad result against Leicester, especially after the penalty. A couple of reults not gone our way, just hope Boro can demolish the wall later, have a nice weekend all.

So for today we could do with a Cardiff win over Wolves, well they have at least started well. 1-0 up.

I think Matty up front is a mistake too. What about asking for Dicko back?
If not then Del Boy would be a better option.
We need to go for 3 points on Saturday. Attack attack

We only have Fonz for a dozen more games so would like to see him have a decent spell with us, just in case we are able to, dare I say buy someone in the summer. Would like to see him and a couple of others, liked watching him on the left wing, with Ince on the right side would like to see Derbyshire up front in the middle. What has happened to young Harris and the guy we loaned from city, I do remember Ollie taking up to March in most seasons to decide on the best eleven so it is becoming a tradition with Pool.

Must admit I found the selection of matty up front rather strange as he will never win a header in a month of Sundays. would still like to see Ince and Matty or Derbyshire out wide with the fonz in the middle as he does win headers lol
