KARL Oyston has described the Bloomfield Road pitch as a “shambles”.
Many players have blamed the playing surface for the team’s poor home form.
Skipper Alex Baptiste went on record as calling it a “joke”, a view his chairman seems to agree with.
Oyston said: “It’s a stick which is used to beat us and rightly so.
“The pitch is a shambles, we all think that.
“The pitch will be resolved as well as it can possibly be resolved. We all agree about that.”
Blackpool called upon industry experts in an attempt to resolve the problems. Relaying the pitch was considered but the recent poor weather made that almost impossible.
And speaking to The Gazette and fans at an event arranged by Blackpool Supporters Association, Oyston added: “We will do the best we can to improve it now, until the grass starts to grow again.
“When we get to the summer, we’ll take the top few inches off and have the whole pitch relaid. We already have quotes in for the work to be done.”
“I’d like to think we won’t have these sort of problems next year.
“We have to make sure that a good job is done in the summer and that it’s looked after properly next season.”
