BLACKPOOL have been rocked to discover that Ian Evatt will miss the rest of the season.
A knee injury has kept the centre-half out of action since the draw at Bristol City in November.
It was initially believed rest would allow the knee to recover and he attempted a return just before Christmas.
However, having broken down during his first session back and shown little sign of progress since, Evatt consulted a specialist in London who said an operation is needed.
The 31-year-old went underwent surgery yesterday and will be unable to run for at least another 12 weeks.
Pool’s caretaker boss Steve Thompson and his squad were hopeful of training at their Squires Gate base today after a day off. They switched venues to Fylde RFC on Tuesday because of the winter cold snap.
The players are getting on with business as normal, despite all the confusion around the managerial position.
The Seasiders are due to take on Fleetwood Town in a behind-closed-doors game this afternoon.
If that games goes ahead, Elliot Grandin will play. The Frenchman has again been frozen out at Bloomfield Road and has not featured since being hauled off against Watford in November.
However, Thompson is considering giving Grandin yet another chance and he could come into contention for Saturday’s trip to Wolves.
Scott Robertson, Gerardo Bruna, Nathan Eccleston and Angel Martinez were all set to take part against Pool’s League Two neighbour

I fear this could be a career threatening injury for Evo, I hope not as i think it'll be a bad way for him to go out, being a tangerine legend!
As for Grandin, we need him, SIMPLES!!!!!

Awful news about Evo, as I don't believe Boredfoot or Cathcan't are good enough to lace up his boots and we've sent Eastham out on loan again
As for Grandin, how many chances are we going to give him ? If he isn't committed to the club, maybe it's time he did one back to Garlic-eating surrender-monkey land !

I would rather have him in the side, the last time we looked half decent was when he got a run of games, sadlly the apple barrow boy took the wrong player off that match.
