Looks like Thommo will be leaving Bloomfield to take on the role of manager at Fleetwood
BLACKPOOL assistant manager Steve Thompson is the bookies’ favourite to take the reins at Fleetwood Town.
The Seasiders would be entitled to demand compensation should their League Two neighbours show an interest in Michael Appleton’s popular no.2, but that hasn’t prevented odds as short as 5/4 appearing for Thompson to succeed Micky Mellon at Highbury.
Former Preston boss Phil Brown is second-favourite at around 9-4.
Ex-Manchester United duo Nicky Butt and Paul Ince are other big names linked to the post. Seasiders midfielder Barry Ferguson, currently on loan at Town, has been installed at 8-1 to replace fellow Scot Mellon, while Fleetwood striker Jon Parkin is an 18/1 outsider.
Port Vale boss Micky Adams and Gillingham’s Martin Allen feature prominently on fans’ internet wish-lists.

I reckon it would be a good move for Thommo, gain managerial experience for 12 months, then come home to lead us back to the promised land once we sack Apppleton
OK, I know I'm being silly . . . . make it 6 months

I was expecting them to get a biggish name with a proven record to replace Mellon
