is indescribably strange to watch as a 49-year-old man, one who has just been appointed to what he describes as his perfect job, struggles to hold back the tears.
“I just hope the people at Blackpool forgive me one day,” says Ian Holloway, slowly and deliberately. His eyes flick around the room, finally resting on his red and blue tie.
“Tangerine suited me a treat. But small things like this, which colour of tie you’re wearing, they mean something. My time at Blackpool was the best trip I’ve ever been on. But I need a new trip now, and these people here at Crystal Palace — they want me, and this is my new challenge.”
He shakes hands, a man conflicted; Holloway has just made the toughest decision of his life, but he has done it for the right reasons — for family and ambition.
BUT THIS IS THE REAL REASON
“I was terrified of it going backwards at Blackpool,” he says. “And I wondered if I could possibly be the right man to be there if I was even thinking that.
Why would we go backwards?? Why would he think that??

Because our numb nut of a chairman maybe? Considering this is what he says about Ian going to palace says it all really and answers his own question as to why!!!
“The only thing that disappoints me, and this isn’t a swipe at Crystal Palace in any way shape or form, is that Ian has not got what I would consider to be a big job with a Premier League club where he can showcase his talents.
“But with Palace they are a progressive club and an ambitious club and they have some new owners who are intent on moving the club forward on and off the pitch, so I think it’s a good challenge for him.

Cannot believe he actually said that!!!!! The second paragraph speaks volumes and the first highlights his small club mentality. Sorry Karl have you really have no idea what has been achieved over the last three years but thanks for the pep talk. I feel much better now!! If you were running anything but a family owned business you would be sacked on the spot. If that's what you think then my advice is keep quiet. Your not doing yourself or us any favours.
Just read tonights article in the Gazette and if you take the blah blah out its pretty clear that the rolling contract was the problem. Mr Motivator at it again offering no stability just in case it went wrong. It wasn't even the money you dipstick! Here's some free advice...not everything needs to be worked out by the accountants mantra of "worst case scenario"
I am really sick of him being so passive about people leaving for a "better" club because they are "bigger". But now all they need to be is more ambitious...... and thats OK is it!!!!! REALLY MAD NOW

That is from his on line statement to the club web site... you should read the rest of it where he goes on about how much more attractive the club is to a new manager with all its new gear blah blah blah thats until you take them to the training ground i guess
