Now this is rather disturbing where does this leave us if both the manager and assistant wanted to leave... Do we even have a manager? or has he spat his dummy out and resigned again?
Think its time the club issued a statement saying what has been going on
It has been claimed that McCarthy will be announced as the replacement to Paul Jewell today, although the club maintained that no immediate announcement was due when contacted by this newspaper at lunch-time.
The situation has been complicated by Holloway’s name becoming increasingly in the frame.
We understand Town have met with both McCarthy and the Blackpool boss and that he was interested in the vacancy despite Ipswich’s precarious league position.
But our sources have indicated that the big sticking point over discussions is the £500,000 compensation made up of £400,000 from Holloway and £100,000 for his assistant manager Steve Thompson.
We are hearing that a move for Holloway is now dead in the water with McCarthy in pole position.
The other alternative was ex-Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp who appeared to knock down the story yesterday, but whose close relationship with owner Marcus Evans has seen rumours remain.

To me the answer is simple Ollie wants a new and improved contract and is always banging on about how he wants to finish the job he has started at Blackpool so its simple offer him a decent contract Karl but with the following conditions.
All approaches from other clubs for the first 18 months can be refused by the club after that it will cost them a million in compensation that will put most off, remove the 5% sell on clause on any player bought then sold for a profit by the club and he is not allowed to resign to join another club and give him a decent wage

I really do think KO and Ollie need to sit down and decide whether they want to work together or not, all this brinksmanship in the media is destroying the momentum that we had.
I fully understand that as fans we really do have absolutely no say, but, on a purely professional level, I think BOTH of them need to man up and pee or get off the pot.
A year ago, I was firmly of the opinion that Ollie was here for 10 plus years, on a project to develop a new type of sustainable club. Now, we don't know whether he is here from one day to the next, the players are getting more days off than the retired, and the Oystens live off the fat of the land.

All this is getting very tiring and i don't want to say what i really think or ill blow a gasket and it is a family site!lol Let me just say their are bigger and richer clubs out there than ours, who i think would sack their manager to get Ollie in. Same old Blackpool have something good and what other clubs are jealous of and we let them in with their copper jar and let them buy what they want and piss it all up the wall!!!!!!!!

TBH the only time I'll be worried is when Hughes gets potted. Given Ollie's history with and apparent love for the blue hoops, I reckon that is the one job he would wal away for

Agree, but if Sherlocks mole is right and the relationship has broken down they could have had a butchers round Brizzle Rovers and City for that matter!!!!! or anywhere else to be honest! How are we expected to beat Derby when half the players have swanned off round europe and are training themselves. Karl wants shot of Ollie but won't sack him coz he want compensation!! We need someone in the PR dept to come out and tell us supporters what the hell is going on. Has Ollie and Tommo left, no one knows!!!!!!!!!!!

As a life-long Gashead, I doubt he would go to Bristol City under any circumstances
and I can't see him dropping 2 divisions
I'm inclined to agree with Sherlock . . . .
Karl needs to sit him down and offer him an imporoved 3 year contract with performances bonuses, and clauses that he can't leave in that period and we can't sack him in that period unless he gets us relegated to League 1

"We need someone in the PR dept to come out and tell us supporters what the hell is going on".
You nearly made me choke when I read this Rob PR Dept I don't think Karl knows what PR is and if he does he certainly wouldn't pay for a department of them.

Crystal Palace have confirmed rumours that they have made an approach for Blackpool manager Ian Holloway this evening and expect him to become their new manager.
The Eagles have been searching for a new boss since Dougie Freedman left for Bolton Wanderers last week.
It is thought that as long as a club is willing to pay the £400,000 compensation for Ollie they are free to talk to him, with London media publishing that they expect him to be named the new manager tomorrow (Friday).

If this is true, it really does show that the relationship has broken down completely, and who the heck would want to work for Karl after this? Oh well, we're Blackpool fans, come rain, come shine, Come on the Pool

Its lock down at Bloomfield everybody is under sentence of death if they speak or leak anything so can not get any more info.
If true I will always be thankful to Ian but I will always be mad as hell when he said he would never walk away from a club again.
But I did say a major bust up had happened days ago

Guess we'll find out in the morning, feeling pretty sick at the moment. If they are under pain of death, there is obviously at least a grain of truth in it.
Palace, for God's sake, if it was QPR or one of the championship leaders, but bankrupt failure Palace? Ollie, take a deep breath and use your head, not your heart.

I've always been supportive of Karl and his running of the club, but if this turns out to be true it will be almost completely Karl's fault and I for one will never set foot inside Bloomfield Road for as long as the Oyston's or Belokon are running the club.
I do however feel it will also be a clear case of Holoway reneginhg on all the things he has said about wanting to finish the job and definitely has shades of what happened at Plymouth all over again

Come on guys, this is football and as fans we will be the last to know. Nobody really knows what goes on behind closed doors hence some very strange goings on and decisions at all football clubs down the years. Think about it!
Anyway, this is Holloways Tangerines and we keep our heads when all around us are losing theirs.
Thats a thought Sher, will you change the name if Ollie does a runner?
Might renew my season ticket cos if Ollie goes all the pathetic, whinging, obnoxious, impatient, ignorant, plastic w*****s will probably go too.
UP THE POOL
