We live in an age, so different from when many of us were young, of news around the clock, facebook, special interest blogs and boards, everyone has an opinion and the means to broadcast it.
So what does this do for our well being and happiness?
The opportunity to get something off your chest, to feel that your views are noticed, to find out what is going on at other than 18.00 and 22.00 (ask your parents LOL), to argue, to get anonymously aggressive and abusive, to bully, to hold to account.
The missus and I are at the end of a long hard summer, looking to a few days off next week ( the EU wouldn't be happy with how many hours we work and how few days off we get). So we're both at about our most knackered and least resilient.
The constant speculation about Ollie's future has really got to me in the last three weeks or so. The events of the last 24 hours has pushed me over the edge, I was waking up last night wondering if he'd be gone by the time I got up this morning. The PC was fired up at 6.30am, never mind overnight booking mail, straight onto the footy sites. Thank goodness for Sherlock's insights, other sites are full of desperate speculation, recrimination and worse. Some of you may have noticed even I have started getting negative, my apologies.
So do I think 24 hour news and social media have improved my life?
Hell. no

Same here because i could not get any info last night.
I hate the whole social media side ie facebook and 24 hr news especially the newspapers sites that just write what they wish and never bother if the information they are reporting is true.
I am seriously considering not renewing my mobile phone contract as i really can not be bothered having one
But on the plus side i like our little forum as it very rarely reaches the levels of other sites in regards to abuse and slanging matches we can all have our opinions with out fear of starting a melt down lol
I long for the days of no sunday trading no all day drinking etc

Cheer up. Its not all that bad
Its a choice thing. You don't need to go shopping or drink all day long if you don't want to. (Don't ever try both).
I don't like the old idea of being told to go home at 11pm if I'm on a night out and sometimes Sunday is the best day to get stuff in because me and the Mrs work all hours during the week and Saturday is my "Fun" day. I quite like Sunday afternoon footy on the box and prefer this to some crappy doctor dolittle film as in the past.
The internet is a great thing and 24hr news is good as long as you don't watch it all day.
If Ollie stays and we get a new striker you'll soon feel better.
