According to My Mum (who is now in her eighties) she used to work at Mr Bebbers boarding house in Blackpool. Mr Bebbers also owned the mascot for Blackpool FC which was apparently a duck. I also have a photo of the woman called Lilly Thickett who used to work there. I will endeavour to post it on this thread later. No, I'm not making it up - I don't have the imagination ..

We had three ducks in my lifetime Dylan, one, Puskas, named after the Hungarian forward, one callled Donald, now that's original and the third, damned if I can remember but do remember the sight of them at home and away encounters and they were a problem on occasions when they tried to catch them. 1949 onwards until about late 50's early 60's I would reckon.

Atomic boy, Dylan, now that's a bit sexist, Atomic person would be todays definition, but alas no I wasn't. The ducks on occasions were a handful to catch after they were let go on the pitch but the crowds used to cheer their captors in the process. Years and years of div 1 football, just hope this is the start of another lengthy period.
PS Douglas, of course, came over from the Isle of Man on the Fleetwood ferry.
