I see from today's 'Gazette' that Ian H. wants to get the lads away for a wee bonding break-cum-pre.season training camp.
Something and somewhere a little different this year....
The very place that I can suggest is Alanya, and the man to contact is -
H Dizdaroğlu the Alanyaspor Club President (Baskan)
alternately
Huyesin Bayer (Vice-Pres) who deals with PR.
thru the Mayor of Alanya, Hasan Sipahioğlu
contact: www.alanya.bel.tr/translationEN/belediye/baskan.asp
or
alanya.bel.tr/contact.asp
The Chairman of the Tourism Association - Türk Fahri Yiğit

OK, I'm biased, as you'd expect, and to an extent, have a vested interest in the suggestion - after all, many will remember I mooted the possibility of Blackpool and Alanya 'town-twinning' a few months back, but unfortunately, the local council (Blackpool) weren't receptible to the idea at the time due to the economical and financial climate, and, for some reason, the Club Secretary didn't reply.
A number of foreign teams, including Wodzisław Śląski from southern Poland, and Hannover 96, amongst others, can vouch for the excellent training facilities, accommodation and ambience of location in this area of Turkey, which is not far north of Cyprus, and south-east of Antalya, a major airport (havalimani) in that part of the world.
Which flights are two/ three times a week from Manchester - and fairly reasonable.
Apart from that fact that the area, the Belediye (Council) and Football Club acting together, would be honoured to arrange the reception of a (ex-) Premier League team in their midst.
All of which would open new horizons for both towns and clubs, and consequently improve the tourism and economies.
So, Ollie, get yourself over there:
Antalya are in the top lig and Alanyaspor are (roughly) division 1.
YL.
