sat watching the riots in london, sorry just get the army in and water cannon. These people have given up their rights to be treated with kid gloves.

Sod water cannons, Baton Rounds and Tear Gas . . . . if anyone breaking the law gets injured as a result . . . . tough shit
And while we're at it can we round up the wishy washy liberal "human rights" do gooders whose constant erosion of law and order are at the root of this

The police seem to be letting them just get on with it. I'm sure other countries would have dealt with them a lot better. I'd go for a combination of the above soak them first then tear gas and then go in an clear them up. What ever happened to rubber bullets

In France 98 I think it was, they had like a small fire truck type thing and I remember seeing a fan being blasted across the floor. I've always wondered why we have never had them.

Deal with 'em tough when they do it, no doubt. Don't involve the Army, they are stretched enough as it is.
But fundamentally, get the parents, community leaders, etc to teach these thieving thugs that this sort of behaviour is wrong. Get them to stop them going out, policing has to be by consent, we would not want to live in a country where there were enough Police to deal with any problem instantly.
And stop people going on telly saying how they have no future, and are disaffected. The stores targeted are electronics, sportsware and food. Like many of you, we are and have struggled to survive, but that is no excuse to steal and damage.

We are too soft, even when they arrest them they will get 60 hrs community service which they will fail to do and a few hundread pound fine.
unless the police are given permission to use force with out fear of lossing their jobs and being done for assault what can we expect them to do..

Match is off.
Quite frankly I would give each shop keeper a gun and tell them how to use it.
Absolute scum.
This is not the same as the 80's riots. Its just thugs filling their pockets.
