The Turks are well known as connoisseurs of good food and have a great affinity with the social side of meals: sitting round the table, talking about every subject conceivable. Their passion for cuisine and pleasant company starts with breakfast and a traditional Turkish breakfast - 'Kahvalti' - is anything but a scant affair. There is everything, including a variety of bread, eggs, cheeses, jam, tomatoes, meats, peppers, cucumber, honey, olives, and bread. ('ekmek'). Not forgetting, of course, the ever-present tea. ( Çay). On the other hand, you could well see a group of Turks at the breakfast table partaking of nothing but a bowl of soup and bread. Here is one variation of the Çorbasý the perfect breakfast on an autumn or winter's morning with either a poaca or semit, two distictive types of fresh bread. Sticks to your ribs, that. My favourite, though, is the “Ayse Teyzenin Tavuk Corbasi” which is plain (sort of cream of) chicken soup, Turkish style. And they are all a great cure for hangovers! Why don't you try it sometime? YL.

three/four rashers (or more, if avail) two fried eggs (lightly to medium done) two/three sossies (well done) mushrooms fried onions (cremated) toast & butter coffee (a la Turkiye) and a fag to finish it off. though Her Ladyship has a good helping of beans on top of that (Yeuch!) That help?

Both options sound excellent.
I have not found black pudding in this part of the world so have to make do with the
rest.
Every Friday morning is fry up for me, pork products tend to be a tad expensive.

Sher - thanks! I knew there was something missing - it didn't just taste quite right! how could I forget? Black Pudding. and if I'm lucky and Herself has been to Bury market, a slice or two of white pudding to go with the coffee & fag. Gulf - I quite understand though where I am in Turkiye, there's now a few outlets for a bacon buttie, especially in 'Crusoe' on Alanya's main drag or the 'Viking' in Obagul. (both English owned/run, incidently) YL.
