A very good list there, Ye Olde, but for me, there are a number of films I'd prefer over your # 2, 8, and 9:
First, I'd include "Reach for the Sky" ( about Douglas Bader - seen this one about 9 or ten times!).
[I've noticed not many on here mention that one].
Then "All Quiet on the Western Front" "Tora! Tora! Tora!"
If you mean "Top Ten Favourites" - that I can't give you, but I can give you a couple of hundred.... ;D
There's the "Colditz Story The Wooden Horse Ice Cold in Alex Where Eagles Dare Escape to Victory Tunes of Glory The Great Escape (on TV last night) Empire of the Sun Schindler's List Escape from Sobibor Hannibal Brooks Sink the Bismark All Quiet on the Western Front Run Silent, Run Deep From Here to Eternity."
etc etc etc

Excellent range of film titles everybody.
Its a shame we don't see them on the box anymore.
As Sher once said, too afraid to upset anybody!
Whilst I know its not a movie, and the original theme is about movies, I thought that as most titles are now mentioned I would like broaden the scope slightly but staying on the wartime theme.
Loosely based wartime comedy Allo Allo, Classic British comedy, probably banned now.
The Gathering Storm was a TV movie based upon the years running upto the outbreak of war, excellent production in my opinion.

With all the above 'War Films' in mind, I noticed this snippet in a magazine today:
Nazis 'invaded' North America in 1942.
which led me to an e-mail service which extols a whole load of interesting facts, one of which is reiterated, and confirmed, by Wiki, though the above states 8 went ashore -
"During World War II the German submarine U-584 debarked four saboteurs at Ponte Vedra as part of the failed Operation Pastorius.[6] The four German spies, all of whom had previously lived in the United States, came ashore on the night of June 16, 1942 carrying explosives and American money.[7][8] After landing they strolled up the beach to Jacksonville Beach, where they caught a city bus to Jacksonville and departed by train for Cincinnati and Chicago. The invaders were captured before they could do any damage. They were tried by a military tribunal and executed." (source – Wikipedia).
Don't tell me the flamin' Yanks haven't made a motion picture of that, yet?
YL.
