You've all heard about the Camel Racing, the Camel Wrestling, the Camel Beauty Contests, and the Oil Wrestling, now how about the “ Camel Sausage Sandwich” ?? I kid you not. In Alanya, “ camel sausage sandwiches” are starting to replace the tourists’ favorite doner, the döner kebabý. Camel sausage, produced in Ýncirliova,* famous for camel wrestling, has became very popular among the tourists in Alanya. The price of a Camel sandwich, which Euro Çaðýrýcý Fast Food café started to serve in Alanya last month (October), is 7 Turkish Lira. The café manager, Kerim Çaðýrýcý, said that tourists like camel sausage more than the Turkish people. He added that camel meat is very useful in terms of health. “Our citizens, who do not want to try new flavors, lose a lot. We also describe to our customers the benefits of camel meat. After a first bite, they have a funny expression on their faces. They face an unfamiliar flavor. When we tell them that it is a camel sausage, they like it very much,” he said. He added that the price of 1 kg of a camel sausage is 40 TL, camel sausage sandwich is 7 TL. There's always something new, isn't there? YL. * Ýncirliova is a small town of 18,000 people, on the İzmir–Aydın highway, in the Aegean region, North-west.

Yen,
Excellent meat and very healthy.
I trust you have tried it?
The camel is a good source of other products, the milk is very lot in fat and high in vitamin C.
Earlier this year a Dubai company has applied for a European import licence for camel products including meat and dairy, might find it in Tescos soon.
I personally enjoy the meat, very nice in a burger.
I have tried the milk and its not bad, difficult to change habits though.
Camel products are eaten widely across the MENA region in particular with the nomad popoulation.

Haven't tried it yet as we were last there in September, and first sales of the camel meat was last month - probably will do in March.
Maybe Kipa (the local Tescos) will have it in stock by then?
The camel milk is very good, though.
YL.
