Games News: A return of interest into more simple and practical toys and games this Christmas could see an EU Dominoes set becoming the surprise hit of the lucrative holiday season.
The set – which features a complete representation of all the countries in the European Union – currently retails at only €39.99, although that price could increase considerably over the next few weeks as desperate parents try and get hold of the game.
The good news for Mums and Dads is that the days of expensive and dazzling gifts for their children may be at an end. The bad news is that the number one ‘must-have’ present this year is a game that mimics the utter destruction of the European economy and then possibly the entire western world.
The maker of the game, House of Tat, said that the beauty of the domino set was that you could knock down any number of different countries at different times. “Just like with the global finance system – there are endless possibilities with this game – any permutation is possible – as long as you start with the Greek domino.”
One toy industry insider revealed: “The days of trying to dazzle friends and family are over, even kids with the largest Christmas wish-lists have scaled back their requests – and, incredible as it may sound, we believe that we could see lists dipping under the £1000 mark this year.”
