Today just like the past few years I have had to contact a very well known motoring organisation about renewal. Yesterday the letter arrives thanking me for being a member for the past 16 years, in fact it goes back a further twenty but never mind and as per usual they give me a price for renewing. Each year for the past four years I have had to do the same thing, get on the internet and check their web page out for offers and what do you find. New members just joining get a hefty discount. Each year I phone them and this is what happens. All our agents are busy dealing with a sudden rise in breakdowns, so I look for options, try the one which says, you do not wish to renew membership, an agent suddenly is on the line. I explain that leaving and joining another org. or joining this one as a new member would be a fair bit cheaper, what are they prepared to do and each year they reduce it over the phone to the web price. That is ok, but why the letter thanking me for 16 years membership, it's worth f all. Now as I understand it over 70% of those people over 65 are not on the net and 25% of the population overall are not connected, which means a fair few people are not aware of what goes on and this can apply to Home , Car Ins, Air travel and a whole host of things. That's it, rant over, off to Ipswich for the match in the morning, just might see history made when we get our first win there, I hope.

There's an ad that bugs me, too Whit
A few years ago, BT hired Jermey Clarkson at vast expense to tell everyone how committed they were to making sure that their existing customers got the best deal.
Now they get the worst, just like everyone else.
Why do businesses understand, like we do, that your existing customers cost far less than new business?

guess they depend on peoples attitude just to renew with out question, as for BT they are useless every few months i have to get on the phone to them about either the phone, broadband or vision box.
normally because they are always trying to put up the direct debit as they seem to think i am suddenly going to spend 100 of pounds in the next few months more than normal even though i am in credit at the moment.
But the one that really gets on my nerves is when you have to phone the broadband help line when your connection goes wrong and you get on but on hold and have to listen to the same old message over and over "you can find help via our self help page at www."
why the hell do you think i am phoning, you bloody muppets its because i have no connection.
