... Ok, so we may not love them but I can still remember that early evening about now, just finished a shift and next to the sleeping accomodation there was a kitchen, where I made a slice of toast and a cuppa, put the radio on and heared that the plane carrying the Manchester United players had crashed. The team was returning from a European cup game against Red Star Belgrade and had stopped off at Munich for extra fuel, snow had started to fall and on the thirdd attempt to take off the plane unable to gain height at the end of the runway ploughed into some buildings. From memory about 23 people were killed not all outright, some from injuries at a later date including one, Duncan Edwards a very talented youngster. Eight of the players died in total, devasted the team but they carried on regardless. It came as a great to all fans at the time, but they were a great team and for the era a very young one at that.
