After another sad incident in Russia today with early reports saying 32 people have sadly been killed and again raising the question of maintenance in Russia as 15 planes crashed last year alone you would think it would be wise to avoid all Russian based operators like the plague but that's not true all except one of course. If your flying in Europe or from Europe on long haul your best going with some of the budget airlines and not just main carriers as the following have never had crash or incident where a passenger has been hurt or killed in the last 20 years but does include any flights have had to land due to technical problems or made a emergency landing. Ukraine Int. Airlines Virgin Atlantic Airlines Air Europa Transaero airlines Easy-Jet Ryan-Air And now for the ones to avoid if you can, you are more likely to be involved in a incident or crash if you use any of the following 5 Aeroflot Russian Airlines (on average they have a fatal crash every 4 years ) Air France Turkish Airlines (sorry Yeni) SAS Scandinavian Airlines Lufthansa Airlines The really strange thing is that the above is based on the last 20 years and if you narrow it down to the last 10 years then to the last 5 years only one airline has not improved its safety record by any great margin and is in fact the most dangerous airline in Europe and they are Air France

No probs re 'Turkish Airlines', Sher.
Apart from the cost factor (c.£1,600 rtn.pp. to fly from Man to AYT stopping off at Istanbul) I don't believe I have ever flown with them, Onur Air, yes, and am well aware of their record as far as safety goes.
I normally fly Thomas Cook (£140 or thereabouts) return per person, and glad that British companies have a more awareness of safety: when we went out last week (Friday) on the 10am flight, we had a five and a half hour delay - due to our aircraft 'failing its MOT', and didn't get to our place until the next day....
rather safe than sorry, I'm thinking.

The airline I always avoid is Delta, given that in my experience it stands for Don't Expect Luggage To Arrive
I remember flying home from Arizona with 4 cases and asking the check-in girl "Can you send that case to Atlanta, that case to New York, that case to London and that case to Manchester ?"
"I'm sorry, sir, we can't do that" came the reply
"Well," I commented "You usually damn well manage to !!"

Delta besides being crap with your luggage are in fact the second most dangerous airline to fly with in north America but the overall prize for being the worst for the last 20 years is Southwest Airlines and that is frightening when you consider the events of 9/11. As for Africa/ Middle east the most dangerous airline and this should come as no is Iran Air

Well done you made it through mate.
This is one of the most bizarre accidents in recent times and its not always the pilots or planes fault Filair Bandundu, Congo Democratic Republic 25/08/2010
A passenger brought aboard a crocodile hidden in a sports bag. The crocodile escaped, causing a panic among passengers who all rushed to one end of the plane. This caused an imbalance in the aircraft which led to loss of control and a crash.
