Yes, the likes of Berbatov (19 goals) and Tevez (18) top the list of Prem goalscorers, but if you take the foreigners out of the equation, how many Blackpool players do you think would be in a 'Top English Goalscorers Chart'?
Would you be surprised if I said three in the top 11? DJ (he for England) has 8, and then there's Varney and Harewood both with 5.
Additionally, our Evo is amongst the group that have played the most games so far this season - an ever-present with 25 games played in, to his credit.
No side has more Prem League goalscorers in 2010-2011 than Wigan with 14 different scorers. Where are Blackpool in that particular 'table'? Pretty high up, I'd say, with 12 to our name. Goes to show that we have 'goalscorers throughout the team'.
Not only that, Englishmen have contributed to 46.2% of appearances made for Blackpool to date, whilst the likes of Arsenal - 12.4%, Wigan 13.9%, Chelsea 22%, with only six prem teams having a better percentage than us, including Newcastle who are tops with 61.1%.
Not to forget that we are still second to Brum City in the fair play league - 358 points to their 345.
Where are all these facts and figures leading to?
Especially with England playing Denmark tonight (ITV Live) and England's line-up, with two or three exceptions - same old, same old.
The ever perennial debate of the influx of foreign players into the English game and the detrimential effect it has on your 'national side that's what.
Which, in my opinion, will never go away.

Very interesting stats there Yeni, playing the way we do gives most of the team the opportunity to score as you point out and as I mentioned the other day if we had someone with the Saha mould, just think what we could achieve goal wise. On another point re the Danish friendly match tonight, I was only thinking yesterday how I miss the old HOME internationals we used to play England, Scotland, Wales and N Ireland, wish they could be re introduced with the Irish Republic added, they use to play these games with passion and national pride unlike todays events.

Good point re the 'Home Internationals' there Whit. I suppose though, that this week's 'Carling Nations' is a taster to the possible re-introduction of those great games of so long ago? Always remember seeing Jim Baxter ( drool, drool) playing 'keepie-uppie' during a match with England and also sitting on the ball another time...... Having said that, don't we all complain re the number of (unneccesssary?) games played, partic. during the season. How would they now fit into Blatter and Platini's schedules and scheme of things? ? Something else to be proud of.
STANLEY MATTHEWS, is the oldest player ever to play for England and it was in 1957 against yes you guesed it Denmark. at the age or 42
He was also Enland's longest running player over a period of 22 years.

How have things gone since the initial article?
For the season to date:-
35% of all players used were English, whilst only 33% of the goals scored were by Englishmen, meaning that the likes of Berbatov, Drogba, Tevez, Torres, et al. have been the majority of those who have hit the back of the net in 2010-11 - 77%.
And what percentage of English players turned out for their clubs in the League this weekend?
Overall, the figure is 40%, which can be split into indivual clubs as follows:
Villa lead the way on 64.3%, with Bolton and West Ham in 'second place' both on 61.5%. Blackpool follow those two with 57.1%, then comes Newcastle at exactly 50%, the latter leading for the season on 9th February on 61.1%. There is a big gap before we meet up with the bottom two teams of the 14 who played this w/e - Wigan are on 14.3% with Blackburn the worse at 7.1%.
These figures again show 'how English the Prem is' ......or not.
