Following on from the previous thread/post on this topic - hollowaystangerines.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=archive&action=display&thread=1450Blabber and Prattling wasted yet another chance to update football from the 20th Century. Or should that be from the 19th C? At that meeting of the International Football Association Board in Wales yesterday, “ it was decided to continue experimenting with goal-line technology for another year.” Cue Frank Lampard’s ‘non-goal’ in the World Cup against Germany. That alone should have been enough to get them two in cloud-cuckoo land stop looking at their Swiss-made watches and clocks, and actually do something for football, like putting in similar ball technology as is in Rugby, Cricket, and Tennis. but No. At least FIFA have got snoods banned from July. July? It’s a bit warm for them then, isn’t it? YL.

A few more points that I missed off the OP:
the meeting in Newport have also allowed UEFA to use the system whereby 5 match officials participate in games - at the Euro 2012 Finals in Poland/Ukraine next year. The extra officials will be behind the goal-lines but on the side of the goal next to the assistant referee (lino).
Incidently, the decision re goal-line techy comes despite ten systems failing FIFA tests last month. Three sysytems which could pass all worked using a 'magnetic field' and tho' not looked at, the 'Hawkeye System' used in tennis will also be considered. Blabber did admit that he would welcome the use of goal-line tech at the 2014 tournament in Brazil if a suitable system could be found.
The 'vanishing spray' that I previously mentioned, for 'the wall' to line up at on free-kicks, is to be experimented upon in South American football. Why not here as well?
The new rules also clarify when refs have to stop play - when an object, such as an animal, or another ball, (or in the case of the Sunderland-Liverpool match with a 'beach ball' ;D) encroaches on to the playing field.
YL.

Following on from last night's outrageous chelski penalty decision, why not also do what has been done in cricket and tennis, with great success, and introduce an appeal system? The cheating chelski wanker would have got a red card for deliberate deception (or fucking cheating as I call it!) and the whole nature of the game would have been changed, with the possibility of 'pool even getting a result. It also would have shown that the cheating king's road scum had cheated Mank Utd the other day.........perhaps we should join in the cheating as a method of survival in the Premiership.........I hope we don't!

Micky - we're too honest, naive, and don't fall down (often) enough. YL.
