When does a footballer ever need to be granted Diplomatic Immunity to enter a country for a football match..........? Yes, it actually happened in the 1972-73 season when the Scottish club, Hibs, were drawn against Besa Kavaje from Albania in the second round of the ECWC... ( European Cup-Winners Cup to all you youngsters.... The Hibs team had a number of players with facial hair, ie. moustaches. At that time, the ruling Communist Party in that Eastern Bloc country had a ban on upper lip hair, so imagine the astonishment of the locals when Hibs landed there for the tie, which ended 1-1. Incidently, the Hibees won 8-2 on aggregate. ~ ~ ~ When Rangers lost 6-1 to Eintracht Frankfurt in the 1960 European Cup semi leg, (the year of the Real Madrid Hampden Final) Scots fans stayed up until nearly midnight to see the highlights on TV - but a message from the SFA had requested only the first half of that match be shown. The fact that the game was tied at 1-1 at half time was...... .. purely coincidental..................... YL.

Thanks Sher.
It IS good to be back on the board - to be honest I was BORED - even tho' I was working - without something to say or someone to talk to about a 'fix' (of footie!)
and the wife hates the game.
and some of them over there have no understanding what football is all about as in a way of life.
YL.
