Blackpool v Newcastle Blackpool won at St James' Park at the start of the season in what was a big at the time, but the Seasiders' biggest problem is that their home record is so poor - they have only won four league games and lost nine, which is more than any other Premier League side. The Bloomfield Road side have also only taken one point from their last six league games, home or away, which is why they have dropped into the relegation zone. What's gone wrong recently? Well, they haven't changed the open style that they have been playing all season, but now they are conceding before they look like scoring and they are almost finding themselves out of games before they get started. Most of Blackpool's squad played in the Championship last year and, now that they have lost a bit of confidence, some of them are looking like Championship players. Not many of them have got much top-flight experience and it is at times like this that you have to turn to the manager to try to convince them they can still stay up. It's a very difficult situation for Blackpool boss Ian Holloway but he will know that a couple of wins will still dig them out of trouble. Can they do it? With this fixture, in the first half of the season, I would be backing them here but now I am not so sure. Newcastle got a good draw against Manchester United on Tuesday night and I think they will pick up another point here, which won't be much use to Blackpool.
