I know people talk about must win games all the time, but how important is the Wigan game this Saturday really?
A win on Saturday and we could be 4 points clear of the relegation zone. (If Villa beat West Ham). Now the season will not be over if we lose but we will be digging ourselves even deeper into the mire.
However a Win, not only potentially gives us breathing space it also gives us much needed confidence going into the Newcastle and Stoke game.
I really feel a win on Saturday and we will stay up if we lose i can see us losing confidence and spiralling into relegation.

Its important yes but still only 3pts. If we lose I dont agree that we will lose confidence and spiral into relegation. I feel there is a dogged determination amongst the players to fight to the last minute of the last game and that this will ultimately see us safe. I look at the other clubs at the bottom and dont think any of them have got our fighting spirit. Now is not the time to wobble in our support,we will survive to fight another year, and this one we will start on a level playing field. Bring on the Pie Eaters Keep the Faith

We can only hope they play the way we know they can, if we get beaten by a better team on the day then so be it. The sooner we get the wins we need to stay up the better as someone posted a few days ago, going to United and expecting a result to keep us up would be expecting a lot. The Wigan and the remainder of our home fixtures are all important, we need the points one way or another. BJC not sure I undertstand the (this one we shall start on a level playing field)

Just seen the official website, saying D Vaughan is out on Saturday due to a hip problem, not good news, any thoughts on his stand in for the game.

Been thinking about my team anyway for Wigan, if DV is out, I'd start with the same team as against the Gunners. Grit and the ability to pressure at an amazing level, that patch when we scored was as good as I've seen this year

Thats bad news about Vaughan so guess its Ludo and Elliott if Ollies playing a 4-3-3 though gnasher did have a good game last week so maybe him instead of Ludo.Whichever way you look at it he's a big miss. As for the level playing field comment I was thinking about the short summer break after the playoffs and the fact we had no money in the bank to get players in (sky's first instalment didnt arrive till the season had started) and all the available ones of any worth had already been snapped up. Bit of a headache for Ollie with Carney injured as well, but I still feel we have enough to beat the pie eater's

Charlie, Gnasher & Ludo to start in midfield for me !!
The King in goal . . . . let the traitorous bar steward sit on the bench for the reserves and rot
Baps, Evo, Cathcart & Crainey across the back
DJ, Reg & GTF up front
4-1 with DJ getting to keep the match ball

We have to win on sat, with only 1 win in the past 10 or 11 games I fear for us if we don't. This is our easiest game of the ones we have left and it's now time to get back that winning feeling. DV is a big loss and i'd like to see Ludo play as he has better range of passing than gnasher.

Nearly with you April but would just have to add Puncheon to the team.

I know Gilks has rubbed people up the wrong way, however i feel he has to start. Kingson is just to erratic at this time of the season. For me the team has to be.
Gilks Baps, Evatt, Cathcart, Crainey (The fact that we have no one else to even bring in!) Adam, Southern, Grandin Puncheon, DJ, Varney

All the games left are important but its only human nature to look at what we perceive to be a more winnable game than another. Wigan, like us, are fighting for their lives which makes them a very dangerous animal indeed. Add to that they arent a bad team and have a good manager it would be no disgrace if we lose or only managed a point. The fans are going to be really important for these next few home games because we are one of the few grounds where there is noise on all four sides. Most grounds just have an end or a section. Wigan fans are particularly lacking in vociferation judging by what I saw at their place so its a chance to get the place really rocking. I think we should all, pinch the nearest plastic (that was pinch not punch BJC) and even if they only howl in pain at least it will be noise. If we get three points it will be worth all the dirty looks. Lets all stand up and be counted on Saturday and get Bloomfield Road exploding. I love it sometimes when I get home and folk say they could hear the crowd from Layton Square. Cant wait. Der der der, der der der, der der der der der der der der.

April's team, swapping Punch for Ludo for me I think, as above, we need to be really careful of Wigan, they are fighting for their survival and honour, and will want revenge for the humiliation of the defeat on the opening day of the season. We need a team that can score, obviously, but we also need one that are prepared to tackle their socks off, that's why I'd go with Gnasher, Punch and GTF. Still, whatever St Ollie goes with, he's the man. Think it is going to be a brill occasion, looking forward to B/R rocking again, hoping for a pre match pint, roll on tomorrow
