One for the future
Ex-Scholar Josh Egan has signed for Blackpool after Cheltenham Town decided not to offer the youngster a deal.
The 17-year-old winger initially went to Bath City before impressing on trial and earning a deal with the Tangerines.
"First and foremost I'm really pleased for Josh," Cheltenham's head of youth John Brough told BBC Gloucestershire.
"We saw his potential but in our climate at the moment the club needs players that are ready for the first team when we get back for-pre season."
Cheltenham do not have a reserve team and Brough feels Egan will be given more time to develop physically at a Premier League club, which can take a longer term approach to the player.
Brough added: "He's gone and produced a performance over a period up at Blackpool and they've offered him a deal for next year which is fantastic.
"Clubs like Blackpool have got that budget and they can see potential, just like we have," he continued.
"Good players always come to the top and Josh is certainly one of those, ability-wise he's one of the best I've worked with at youth level.
"Physically he has got some developing to do, which he will do over the next year or two."
