Well, I think we all knew it was going to be like this. Almost to a man when the fixtures came out the talk was of, I bet we need to get something at Old Trafford to stay in the Premier League. A lot said, me amongst them, that Man U would probably need this game to win the League. Thank goodness for small mercies.
Where better to go to for a win than OT. We have to beat the Champions in their own backyard to retain our status. We are Blackpool and we dont do easy. I think I would prefer this to anything else because we are guaranteed a full house, the atmosphere will be phenomenal and it can all only lift the players and we know they like the big occasion. Well it doesnt get any bigger than this does it?
What a journey this season has been and it isnt finished yet hence the question, do we prefer mid table mediocrity or this?
My heart literally says yes, I do yearn for mid table because I am not sure if it can take the strain much more but I have never known anything else as a Seasider, its always been a roller coaster. I keep saying to my heart, keep going, only one more weekend to go. I can hear it groaning at the thought.
Deep down though it has been a fantastic couple of seasons that I wouldnt ever change and whatever happens now, we are a stronger, richer club with a stable future ahead of us. We cannot really lose after that great day at Wembley last year (has it really been a year?)
I dont know what to do next week. Should I go down to the Layton Institute and watch the game? Can I hack the tension and also the arrogant resident Mancs? Shall I instead watch Sky Sports News? I cant think straight right now but I think the understairs broom cupboard looks a good bet. I wish it was all over, but then again, do I?
Gosh, I love being Seasider!
