Now that the dust has settled,* as it were, over our last day in the Prem, it is now time to take stock of what lies before us as we prepare for life back in the CCC.
Karl is on record as saying - "...he (IH) can come back (from holiday) and we can set about assembling a team we think can do well in the Championship.
We'll help him as much as we ever can to get back to the Prem.
Ah, no worries there, then, unlike Alex McLeish who has been told -"Get us up or else".
We will, like Brum, get around £16million parachute payment, though TV cash falls to around £3m in the second tier, which, all in all, totals approx. £90million - KO is again on record as insisting that this will be ploughed back in.
I noted that Brum received £42million from TV and broadcasting: we should receive roughly the same dependant upon how many times we were on telly, etc.
Again, like Brum, and others, the players have relegation pay-cut clauses in their contracts, and Wee Ollie's £750,000 a-year wages are likely to be halved due to going back down.
KO has stated that there are long-term plans to "...strengthen the business..." and "...to improve our archaic training facilities and generally grow stronger on and off the pitch."
Undersoil heating could be a case in point?
There is a distinct possiblility that we could now lose a fair number of 'fans' which would have an adverse affect upon income -
the 'plastics' will now drift away, but I sincerely hope that they will be replaced by others (of the calibre of those on this board, and elsewhere) who haven't got a season or couldn't obtain tickets for every game last season.
Thoughts on this aspect?
Spurs reached the Europa League via their placing in the league, and start their Euro adventures in August, whereas Fulham will find out at the end of this week whether they are back in Europe thro' their Fair Play position - starting on 28th June.
If the Cottagers don't go thru, and despite relegation, it looks like we're next in line - I believe Wee Ollie has come out and stated that he doesn't want this distraction so early, in addition to the extra games to be played in the Fizzy Pop League.
KO and Wee Ollie will have plenty to talk about when they meet up to discuss the future....
YL.
* No, I wasn't making an obscure reference to the recent Icelandic volcano eruption.
