Some times the humble side of a footballer is forgotten by media and fans alike. Today was my son's team end of season presentation and mini tournament day and who Should turn up but Charlie Adam and all i can say is thank you because you made about 50 kids day today. Now he did not just turn up to handout the awards and leave, He stayed for the entire 5 hours and even joined in the kids penalty kings comp by being the goalkeeper for the hour it took. Between signing autographs and pelting footballs to the other end of the pitch trying to score when no match was taking place lol He spent time encouraging and cheering on the kids, he even made time for us Adults as i spent time chatting to him some of which was rather interesting lol So from me Mr Adam thank you for giving up your Saturday as not many players in your situation or media profile would have spent the time giving back to the game, that is giving you so much at the moment.

That would not be a fair thing to do tangerinerob79 nothing major, he did get the phone call he had been waiting for at around 2pm and came back not too happy, but put it too one side while with the kids. As for other things that shall remain

I think we need a new roving reporter!!! The chance for a Holloway's scoop and you missed it,you weren't a little star struck where you? Still, well done Charlie,in the middle of what could and probably will be a life defining summer for the guy he finds the time to do that I take it thats a picture of Sherlock junior and not our glorious leader?I may have to moderate my language in future!!

Not the time to pay a tribute to him as he is still, only just, a Tangerine, but the circumstances Sherlock found himself in at that venue with Charlie tells a story of it's own. There was a guy who a couple of years ago was a dedicated member at Rangers, a team he desperatley loved and wanted to play for, but the truth was that there wasn't a place for him there. He came to us, didn't sulk, got on with the job and helped in a big way to achieve something we would not have thought could happen. That tells you somehting about him, remember him being subd, at the end of the game came back on the field down to the far end to the Pool fans and gave a youngster his shirt, there are few players with his attitude playing today, more the pity. Findin a replacement will be one thing, finding one with his character may well be more than we can hope for.

May I add to the sagacious comments of the Member for Kent.
I have never been totally sure whether Charlie is doing it because he believes it, or because he knows how he should behave. Of all our players in the last 2 seasons, he has always been the one to acknowledge the encouragement of the crowd, salute the crowd after the match, and generally behave like the role model of old. No sleazy stories, settled with a local lass, talks to everyone he meets. lots of community events. In the end, it doesn't matter what his motivation is, he has been a captain of whom we can be truly proud.
I wonder if, like Ollie has learnt from the past, this is because the Rangers fans were forever on his back, and he was bright enough to see what he had to do to get the support onside.
Whatever, top bloke, I'd love him to stay, sure he will go, and he'll always get a warm welcome from me when he returns to B/R next time we are in the Prem.

He does it because he enjoys it and wants to be part of the community, plus he just loves football every chance he got to have a kick about he took yesterday, like a child on christmas day, every day..
He has a new way of taking pens as well but can not seem him being allowed to do it wish i had caught it on film, but i can not see the rule makers taking kindly to somebody running up to the bal tapping it one and spinning round and hitting it into the top corner with the back of his foot while facing the wrong way lol

Reminds me of a couple of incidents a few years ago, when Arsenal had penalties... the pen. taker kicked it sideways, another Arsenal player ran into the box and shot - nearly always resulting in a goal. Can't remember the players but I think it was when the (non-) 'Flying Dutchman' was playing for them... Anyone else remember those incidents? YL.

I've seen a pen like the one Yen is talking about but think it might have been Ajax in the 80's

I remember it yeni i think it was Berkamp and all the fuss it caused but was within the rules at the time around the time i used to love watch arsenal on the telly because they had Henry one of the most talented players ever to play the game (lets just forget about the handball thingy)

Thanks for confirmation, Sher - I knew I weren't dreamin' !!
Yes, there wasn't anything in the rules stating it couldn't be done, so the goal(s) stood.
