I saw a rumor this morning that he was having a medical today at QPR and now this has just popped up Please can we have some good news Karl starting to feel depressed now QPR have tabled a £1.25 million bid for Blackpool striker DJ Campbell. The Hoops have yet to make a signing since securing promotion to the Premier League but Neil Warnock is hoping Campbell will be the first of many new arrivals at Loftus Road. Campbell impressed for Blackpool last season, scoring 13 goals, as the club narrowly avoided releagtion from the top-flight. And Warnock is aiming to beat off competition from West Ham and Stoke to seal the signing of the speedy striker after meeting the £1.25m relegation release clause in his contract.

WHU also given permission to talk with a £1.25m bid....groan (SSN) Great signing for Blackpool...ridiculous release clause. Hope Ollie's not getting too fed up with this and at least has a slice of the action. By my reckoning he's responsible for resurecting the careers of DJ,Vaughan,Adam,Crainey and more. Best hope is that other wannabe Premiership players see what he has done and want some of the same. Next time Karl get them to sign something meaningful.

it is annoying that the third highest english goal scorer in the prem last year can go for so little.
but i would imagine it was something DJ wanted in the contract before he would sign after all it was last min dot com when he signed

In the negotiations leading up to sign him, KO may well have stated that should we go down his wages would be halved, so it is likely that DJ asked for the release clause as an opt out if the worst should happen and of course it did. What does concern me a little is DJ's mention that he loved it at Blackpool but wanted to remain playing in the Premiership, so why even think about West Ham, or is it just about money.

he is just using west ham to bump the wages up, plus his family lives down south

Still we were a better option than another year with Lesta. Karl has hopefully learnt his lesson. To me a contract is a contract and should be fixed term with no cheap get out clauses.
Its it just us where this happens or is it fairly common elsewhere these days?

IAN Holloway admits he's powerless to stop DJ Campbell joining QPR.
The man in charge at Loftus Road between 2001 and 2006 says there is nothing he can do if Rangers push forward a claim for the £1.25million-rated Blackpool forward.
“DJ has a clause in his contract that allows him to leave,” said Tangerines manager Olly, "and I wouldn’t be surprised there are a number of Premier League clubs looking at him.
“He’s 29, and wants to secure his future – and I can hardly blame him.”
