From Talk sport
Liverpool are facing a fight to sign Charlie Adam after two unnamed Premier League sides entered the race for the Blackpool star.
The Reds are desperate to tie up a deal for the Scottish international and are apparently ready to offer cash plus players to force the move through, including allowing highly-rated midfielder Jonjo Shelvey to move to Bloomfield Road on a season-long loan deal.
But now a source close to the player has told talkSPORTtwo other top-flight clubs are set to enter the bidding war for the Scottish international.
Former Rangers midfielder Adam, 25, had an exceptional debut season in the Premier League, scoring 12 goals, and was the subject of a failed bid by Tottenham in the January transfer window.

Is Karl likely to do that...? Knowing him, he'll want to let it drag out for so long that Charlie (and the clubs interested) will give up in frustration....

Come on Yeni, you been reading the Gazette again? I think Karl is doing the right thing for the club playing hardball with the Bastards.Charlie is the biggest asset we have had for years everyone knows how good he is they just want to get him for the least they can pay.Karl is I believe trying to get the max he can, nothing wrong with that in my eyes. As long as the profit goes on new players ect and doesn't get lost down the back of the sofa!
Frustrating?yes as we all want to see an end to the leaving door and turn our attention to the arrivals lounge. This as in all negotiations is the point we will see who blinks first, and thus far I don't think I'v ever seen Karl blink.I suspect we have the first Stepford chairman! Call me a deluded old fool (I'v been called worse) but the old glass is still half full until proven otherwise.
As Pike would say "Dont Panic"

Dont want loan players personaly, and dont feel a young r/b is really what we need. Now if you where to say £10 mill and Shelvey on a permanent move maybe. Who's the new one Sherl?

a young left back forgot his name, if they offer a left back and a forward with option to buy both at a price set now and shelvey on a one year loan and 8 million think we might consider it lol

This loan business is no good, this is Liverpool trying to get the fee down and ripping us off and by giving us a load of tosh which won't get near the Liverpool starting 11 next season, and even if they were to well, they get to recall them after the season and we end up hit in the pocket and starting again next season, no no no no noooooooooo to loans and get full whack for Charlie

what worries me is if we agree to this its not going to go down to well because that would mean 4 players brought in and not one penny spent on new players.
we would need the option to buy on the 2 young lads set in stone now at a set price in case we go straight back up because without that option no mater what happens we will be 3 players down at the end of the season no matter what division we are in how can you expect Ian to build if at the end of each season great chunks of the team keep getting removed.

If we get loans we want top quality players a bit like Coleman. The sort of play who is close to making the first team

Loan players are all well and good to beef up the squad, but we have a once in a lifetime chance to build a team we actually can afford to buy.
This is the clever bit Karl....we can then sell them on for a profit when they've done well, rather than just hand them back
Give Ollie the tools and he will reward you well!

and still it rumbles on Vital are reporting that shelvey is not part of the deal and never has been. If that is the case. Hold out for the money Karl because 8 million and two young lads is just daylight robbery no matter how long Charlie has on his contract

£8M, just take that figure for a mo, was it not VB who put up the money in the first place, if so he will want a return on the investment, then Rangers have a % to come, not sure how much and then possibly IH with a little, so out of £8m what would the club get or should I say KO, same thing really.

I'm not sure of your interpretation of Belacons "investment" in Charlie,if it was in the club you would hope that the investment carried over so that any profit made would be put into the club?
Its a rollover!!!!invest £2.5 of your profi from Charlie in Goodwillie for example watch him score 20 goals in the championship and suddenly he's worth £5mill
Come on I mean even a numb nut like me can see the sense in that I'm sure even a banker/gangster can Too.

Liverpool are very close to their second signing of the transfer window but it is not really the one fans are hoping for Brazilian goalkeeper Doni is due in Liverpool monday morning for a medical.Liverpool are close to agreeing a deal with Aston Villa in a player plus cash deal for Stewart Downing but Charlie Adam may not get his dream move to Anfield as Blackpool refuse to accept less than £8.5m while Liverpool will not go above the £6m mark also Liverpool are desperate to offload a couple of central midfielders{Aquilani, Poulsen} before brining in more players.
