The age old debate yet again.. First of all well done matty
Blackpool winger Matthew Phillips has been included in England's final 21-man squad for the forthcoming Under-20 World Cup in Colombia.
The tournament kicks off on Friday 29th July when the Three Lions take on Korea, before facing Argentina and Mexico in their final Group F clashes.
Should England progress to the latter stages of the competition then Phillips will miss the start of the Championship season.
But all these internationals and warm up matches is just getting way out of hand if by some miracle england made it to the final we will not see matty back at bloomers until the last week of August
So he is going to miss all Holloways pre season training and getting to know any new players that arrive
why can the under 20 and 21's etc not hold their world cups at the same time as the actual World cup? it would generate more interest in the their games and stop the constant withdrawal of players.
Besides Birmingham's 4th choice keeper the squad is made up from premiership teams, youth and reserves. while we should be honored it still means we loose a very important member of our squad.
so well done Matty but can not help but feel we don't need things like this at the moment
Goalkeepers: Jak Alnwick (Newcastle United), Jack Butland (Birmingham City), Lee Nicholls (Wigan Athletic).
Defenders: Nathan Baker (Aston Villa), Ben Gordon (Chelsea), Jack Robinson (Liverpool), Adam Smith (Tottenham Hotspur), Reece Wabara (Manchester City), Andre Wisdom (Liverpool), Scott Wootton (Manchester United).
Midfielders: Reece Brown (Manchester United), Gary Gardner (Aston Villa), Jason Lowe (Blackburn Rovers), Dean Parrett (Tottenham Hotspur), George Thorne (West Bromwich Albion).
Forwards: Benik Afobe (Arsenal), Nicholas Ajose (Manchester United), Callum McManaman (Wigan Athletic), Alex Nimely (Manchester City), Ryan Noble (Sunderland), Matthew Phillips (Blackpool).
