So what do people think, I still think we need to look for more keepers.
Personally i will never forgive him for his comments at the end of the season even if he felt justified making them.
But for me at the end of the day I have to support him because no matter what he is pulling on a BFC jersey and getting on his back will not help the team.

The Blackpool manager may be rueing the departure of midfield mainstay Charlie Adam to Liverpool, but he had good cause for renewed optimism about a promotion push next season after persuading Gilks to stay.
Staying put: Matt Gilks is set to extend his stay at Bloomfield Road by signing a new contract
Aston Villa, Leeds and Swansea had all expressed an interest in Gilks after Blackpool failed to agree new terms with him, in the wake of their relegation from the Barclays Premier League.
But Holloway underlined his regard for the commanding keeper, who turned 29 last month, by convincing his board they should offer him improved terms.
Desperate to retain as many of last season’s leading lights as possible, Holloway heaved a sigh of relief after Gilks relented over seeking a fresh start and put his name to a new three-year deal.
Blackpool’s bright start to their first Premier League campaign last season began to falter after Gilks suffered a serious knee injury in the goalless draw at West Ham in November.

Gutted he is staying and I hope we sign somebody to give him a run for his money for the shirt he doesnt respect or deserve.
You will get polite applause only from me McGilks.

He might not have made many friends but at the end of the day its all about how he performs for the Pool. To me he's not prem standard but is a good Championship keeper. I think he do well next season and as a pool player deserves our support. We're not the type of fans to boo our own players even if they're not exactly 100% Tangerine. As the latest tranfer season has demonstrated the players are all transient anyway. It's Ollie and the Club that we're backing here.
A case of forgive but not forget?

He has a lot to overcome after those comments. I was never a big advocate of his skills, but lets hope for all our sakes that our impressions of him change after Gordon Banks type displays this coming season. UTMP

Blinkin 'eck, even when we "sign" someone it isn't simple is it?
Totally agree with those of split views, if he is our keeper, I have to get behind him and cheer him on, but he went way beyond reasonable bounds with his comments, so I will never feel the way abpout him i do about Chubs and the King. They may or may not have been as good, but they never dissed Blackpool or the fans.
I would love another good goalie, or one of the youngsters to really come good and put mega pressure on him. End of the season, I thought he had the walk, but not the talk.

I really hope that we the crowd let what has happened in the past pass under thr bridge and judge him on how he is throughout the season.

We all do and say stupid things and have to live with them. As far as I am concerned Ollie wants him that is good enough for me.

If it wasn't for the fact we've signed Evo & Crainey up to new deals, this would convince me Ollie had lost the plot . . . . . .
. . . .Gilks is a traitorous, useless bar steward who I wish would piss off to Sheepdale or some other dump
I reckon my granny would be more use in goal than Gilks . . . . . and she's been dead 20 years
"Polite Applause" . . . . . . not from me I'm afraid . . . . wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire . . . . . Well, maybe I would if I pissed Napalm

I personally wouldn't go as far as April, but Gnasher has never dissed the Mighty the way that McGilks did, and at a crucial point. As you sew, so shall you reap. We trust Olle's judgement as to his abilities as a player, but as a human being, we all have our own opinion over whether his behaviour was acceptable.

I have loved BFC for as long as I remember. I have had so much stick you would not believe. Gilks may be a tosser for what he said, but, he signed for the Pool. Maybe no one else wanted him, but Ollie did. Think of all the players that I keep hearing about. Charlie, Vaughney, Varney, Pungeon, Coleman etc etc etc. Where are they now ? I will tell you, where the money is. If Gilks keeps a clean sheet by saving 3 penalties against Hull what will you all say then. I promise not to say I told you so. If he lets in 3 blunders, please don´t say the same. Lets just say UP THE MIGHTY POOL. Don´t give me the same s--t that I have heard from Man U, And Spurs fans for the last 50 years. Last year was the best trip, lets hope that this year can be even better, and next year another great trip.

I agree with what you say and it's not meant to start a slanging match between poolers, just annoyed I guess at what he said in the interview.
What we all need is the season to start so we can get our tangerine fix

I am not a lover of Gilks, and to totally slag off my beloved pool is a no no in my eyes, obviously theres no loyalty there with him but if hes all we have then I will have to put up and shut up as I will not slag any pool player off. Ah well

Just read the article Sherlock, and BIG HEAD comes to mind, no one is bigger than the club and although everyone are entitled to an opinion, but who hell does he think he is, he knew he was going to be bench warming, we offer him a bumper pay increase and now he's Billy Big Balls. NOT IMPRESSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! To much hot air is coming out of the blokes ar*e and needs to remember he's a player and employed by BFC not the owner and not someone who can diss our club and say what he likes to the press and upset everyone connected with BFC. Really not sure now why we signed him, wish he'd piss off and get splinters and some other dump counting his dosh coz that's all he care's about. Hope i'm wrong and because he's a Blackpool player will support him for the sake of the club but i'm affraid he's got a lot of making up to do with me.

maybe Ted did get more stick for saying less, but the big difference is Ted said it about a player who has always respected the club, the shirt & the fans . . . . a true Blackpool legend who probably bleeds Tangerine
The Traitorous Bar Steward von the other hand is a 2nd Rate Journeyman Keeper who got lucky for 1/2 a season and on that basis thinks he has the right to disrespect the club, the shirt and the fans on a regular basis.
As for his comments that the clubs "lack of ambition" cost us our Premier League status . . . . . no, you mucking fuppett, it was your inept displays over the last few games that cost us our Premier League place
I can think of several goals he let in over the "final stretch" that cost us points that I still reckon The King would have saved. Still haven't figured why we have offered him a fat new contract and released Kingson
