from the gazette BLACKPOOL are being linked with a move for El Hadji Diouf. Thursday’s papers suggest that Ian Holloway is set to offer the former Liverpool and Bolton striker a lifeline with a deal worth around £14,000-per-week. The controversial Senegalese international is a free-agent after his release from Blackburn at the end of last season. And the Daily Mirror claim the 30-year-old has been the subject of initial approaches from Leicester and West Ham, and had offers from Qatar, but Blackpool are the first club to put a concrete proposal in front of him.

Gosh, hope not. He has always come across as a bit of a thug to me. Still, if Ollie considers him an asset and he thinks he can control him then who am I to argue. IOWT.

I've always liked having a striker with a bit of attitude. As long as he keeps it clean (ish) and has a "keep gob shut" clause. One things for sure..the boy can play.
Whatever next
Balotelli anyone?

A real goal scorer is badly needed. He can do a job for us.

IAN Holloway has admitted he tried to sign the controversial El-Hadji Diouf but reckons the striker wants to go to Europe instead.
The Seasiders boss was due to meet the 30-year-old former Blackburn, Bolton and Liverpool striker last week but received a phonecall telling him the player was heading elsewhere.
“As far as I’m concerned there is nothing in it because he has gone to Greece,” said the manager.
“That was confirmed last week, when he didn’t come to meet me and went to speak to a Greek team instead. I was supposed to meet him last Thursday.
“I told my chairman I wanted to meet him and see what he was like because you don’t know people.
“His reputation isn’t the nicest with away supporters, so I wanted to see what he was like in person. I understand Sam Allardyce really likes him and rates him, and I think he is a very good footballer.
“So this time last week I was getting ready to meet him but the chairman got a call and was told he’d gone off to Greece.
“As far as I know he has gone there. That is as much as I know at the moment.”

That is a sad loss for us. He would score a lot of goals with the opportunities that we create.

I think this is one of those moments when you realise that IH is as honest as they come, the papers can't be believed, and wonder whether KO would have backed IH in the end anyway.
If El H D has any sense, he would sign for us, as the greek economy is as likely to provide a better income as a PNE T shirt seller.

well Ian said yesterday that he still hopes to speak to him if he has not signed for a greek side and as of yet he still seems to be a free agent
