Well that was a reality check and a half today and luck was on our side because we really should have been 2 if not 3 down by halftime
on the plus side what a wonder strike that was from KP
now none of us are ollie but we all have a opinion so i would like to see what others think about the game.
much like last week the first half just did not work for us until ollie could speak to the guys at half time. As always everybody that pulls on a tangerine shirt always gets my full support but a couple of players should not in my humble opinion started today.
Matt hill left us far to exposed today on the left and a couple of times i noticed he had drifted into a center of defence and also did not get back after going forward and we looked more composed when crainey came on.
and secondly billy needs a spell on the bench i think and either matty to start or tom ince who is pushing for a starting place.
but lady luck was on our side today and i am happy to get away with a point
i don't think we are going to see many teams coming to bloomers and setting up to attack, more and more are going to pack midfield like today when cardiff played 5 across the middle

Couldn't get there due to work, and followed on beeb live, so relying on comments here and elsewhere.
Maybe our luck has changed, an onslaught like that and a point, last year played brill and lost.
Did I see right that Ollie did not name a goalie on the bench? i know what he feels about 5 subs, gosh, that is brave, remember last year Richard having to be heavily bandaged when he had his head cut and no goalie available.
I guess it just re emphasises that we still need the midfield spark to get the ball upfield. Sounds like Matty made an impact? The real positive is that we only conceded one, we're still 7th, onward and upward

With Cardiff having 25 attempts on goal and netting just one we were let off fairly lightly. Listening to the match, I can't remember how many crosses they put in but thank the Lord their finishing was not to clever. Sherlock is correct they could well have been 3 up at the interval and although things seemed to improve 2nd half, it sounded as if we were still 2nd best. I know it's history but when Charlie played his long balls and his creative skills as well as his attacking role we would create many chances in a game and our main gripe then was that we didn't put that many away. Now that is missing in the midfield, wich is a great shame not just that KP would get a better service but GTF/MP on the right flank and I am going to say this which may upset a few and Luke Varney on the left flank, well we can dream. A creative midfielder probably more so than a striker at present is a priority although without KP, off injured or similar we would be in serious trouble. However as YeOlde says we are still hanging in there, a great start in terms of points, if only we could capitalise on our position. I would not be surprised if wholesale changes are not the order of the day at Portsmouth, would be interesting to see Martinez, Ince, and Boggy getting involved. I can see where IH has been coming from with the team, using the same trusted players who are used to his system, but without Charlie although the system hasn't changed our playmaking has, with the players available.

The biggest thing we me miss about varney is his ability to win headers and knock it down, can not be to hard on the midfield yesterday as they where just out numbered at least Gnasher got his customary kill and yellow card lol
