I am amazed at how few have gone out on loan to be honest

Seems a sensible way of getting competetive game time, we have got lots of young talent that needs polishing, and Ollie needs to see who can really hack it without risking our own results.
Hope we get a couple in the other way, though, please, pretty please ;D

When we were on 606 I used to mention games that the reserves had played and one particular poster, can't remember who gave me some stick for even mentioning their results. It went back a long way for me from going as a kid to see them when the first team were away and the Central league in those days was a very much respected league. With the number of guys we have in the squad today and no reserve team in which to play, giving them playing time by going on loan appears the only option, which Sherlock touched on. Some of these guys I would love to see more off, Ince showed he has the makings of a great player, Martinez, Sutherland, Harris, Hill, Bruna and the ex Sheffield lad would like to see in action but with only the first team, Ollie would have to take some chances. I miss the reserves and think we could have had this season a very good team, based on who we have, just hope the guys manage some playing time, as youngsters they need the experience.

I think you are right, Whit. Ollie's problem last season was that, with a seriously small squad, commitment to reserve fixtures gave him real problems. Ironic with our much bigger squad this year, he wouldn't have had the same problems. I guess they had to sign or not for reserves long before all our new players came in. Apparently they are still playing friendlies behind closed doors, to be fair it also keeps the pressure off the new guys, giving them time to fit in. I wonder how different the team will be after Christmas

I think we have missed a trick this year with the reserves, I understand Ian did not want any bookings etc counting towards the first team, but would have loved to go watch them during the week.
but why do they have to be played behind closed doors? the cost of opening one stand can not be that great or is their some rule against it.

Sher, if I mind correctly, I was at a game last season when the main stand only was open, but might be different for a 'proper' game, so to speak. Yes, I'm another who's going to miss the reserves playing mid-week, just to keep an eye on them, y'ken, and see which up & coming player is next for the CCC, etc.,as you know I sometimes can't make it to watch the first X1. YL.
