I feel very sorry for the team and fans travelling back all the way to the N/West tonight after today's match.
I still can't believe we lost to a pretty poor team which gave us so little trouble in the first 45 mins. During this period we played some good passing football and created 2/3 good chances which we could not put away, with the opposition not offering much at all.
The ref in this match was one of the worst I have ever seen and when poor Crainey was penalised for having a shot blasted from what seemed just a few yards away which hit him bloody hard with no time to move his arm away and was given a card.
Then at 35 mins gone they have a free kick just outside the area dead centre with the goal, 2 of their guys face their end with the guy on the ball about to take a kick, when he suddenly pushes one of the two away and what then looks like a free for all is about to happen a Portsmouth player takes a shot at goal, luckily nothing happened.
2nd half we just let them come at us and we didn't pass the ball about as well as we had, with the last third of the pitch being our downfall, unable to have a go at goal, we just didn't appear to be the same side as before the interval.
At the end of the day we shouldn't have lost, but we did, it wasn't a terrible performance, it was just one of those games, it was that final minute not unlike our last game there when it was 1-1 with a minute to go and we lost.
The Tangerine fans, I would reckon about a thousand, were in fine voice throughout, a bit of a disappointment the team didn't come over at the end only saw one player respond to the fans the rest no doubt bitterly disappointed went off, a sad end to the day in the pleasant warm sunshine with many having a long trip back home reflecting on what could have been.
