hear of Man. United winning the "Quad" or "Quadruple" instead of "The Treble" (of FA Cup, Premier League, and Champions League - still the European Cup to me) in 1999, when, in fact, and everybody seems to have forgotten this, they also won the 'Intercontinental Cup', when they beat Palmeiras of Brazil one-nil in Tokyo?
It's always "The Treble" everyone talks about- what have folk really got against the IC - it's still a (prestigious) club trophy, isn't it?
And Becks:
Whether you love him or hate him - personally, I don't regard his last few caps for England as 'proper' caps, due to only playing for a few minutes each match - to me, his selection for his past few internationals has demeaned the honour of being selected to play for one's country.... and I'm not a Sassenach!
But give him his due, he has done well to be only the second Englishman to win three League titles in three different countries (England Spain USA) - after Trevor Steven who did it in England, Scotland, and France.
