Can anyone help me, please, in relation to finding out the name, and location, of an establishment in Berlin? . . . (Post-Wall, of course!)
My wife and I were in the now-German capital in September 1998, and stopped off at a cafe/restaurant on the Ku'damm (Kurfürstendamm) for a beer or two whilst heading back to our hotel on Wielandstrasse (near Olivaer Platz).
From what I can remember of the outside, it was possibly set back from the pavement edge, with tables & chairs fronting it, whilst inside, it had a semi-circular bar counter. (Maybe I've been in too many bars like this?).
What we both do remember is that the place was celebrating its 100th birthday, with the waitresses all done up in period costumes.
I thought it was the Café Möhring, @ # 234, but that one is only 102 years old this year, whereas the Kranzler nearby was founded 175 years ago.
We're going there next month (for the Christmas Markets) and would like to have another beer (or two) in that bar/cafe/restr..
Anyone?
YL.

try this yeni you can have a look round and might notice the cafe maps.google.com/maps?q=gary+danko,+sf&layer=c&sll=37.805833,-122.420524&cid=12492966685364411262&panoid=aXoxsQz0Xej7piza7Ou7oQ&cbp=13,56.95,,0,20.02&gl=us&ie=UTF8&hq=gary+danko,+sf&hnear=&ll=37.805833,-122.420524&spn=0.006295,0.006295&t=m&vpsrc=0&cbll=37.805857,-122.420571&source=embed&utm_campaign=en&utm_medium=et&utm_source=en-et-na-us-gns-svn put the following into the search bar on the map page Kurfurstendamm, Kurfürstendamm, Berlin, Germany drag pegman that is on the left hand side of the map to the place you want to see on the map then once the street view opens you can walk up and down the street and zoom in and out it takes a while to load

Thanks, again, but no, I couldn't locate it. Will have another try in the next couple of days.
Maybe it has now gone out of business...hope not, though.
I've got in touch with the Berlin Tourist Board to see if they can come up with something tangible.
I read on one site that the Café Möhring had gone bust a few years back, but that seems just a rumour as a few people had written about a visit over the last two years.
Looks like another Alex Club, Rome, saga in the making!
Prosit,
YL.
