THE Seasiders were dealt an unfortunate blow ahead of the busy December programme with the news that Liverpool have recalled in-form midfielder Jonjo Shelvey from his loan spell with the club.
The 19-year-old had settled well into life at Bloomfield Road netting six goals in nine appearances and talks were at an advanced stage between the two clubs to extend the player's loan beyond the end of December. However, a knee injury to Liverpool's Brazilian midfielder Lucas has meant that the Reds have activated the recall clause and Shelvey returns to Anfield with immediate effect.
A disappointed Ian Holloway told the official website, "Obviously this is a setback to us as Jonjo has done ever so well in his short time with us, we knew that Liverpool had the recall option on him and it was only the unfortunate injury to Lucas that has prompted them to take this course of action. I would like to thank Jonjo for his efforts with us and Kenny for allowing him to come to us, we will be in regular contact with Liverpool about trying to bring him back in January should Liverpool's injuries clear up."

A player of his calibre should have been signed up at Bloomfield Road, despite the fact we have a fair number of strikers on the books.
Just hope he comes back whenever the problem sorts itself out.

p.s. Say 'hello' to Cheekie Charlie for us! ;D

Disappointed but not downhearted, as he has been most successful up front. Mid field back to Gnasher, BF and Ludo, up front choose from Lu LU, KP, Incey, GTF, Matty, Macca, Boggy
Hey, it wouldn't be Blackpool unless we did it the Hard way!!
In Ollie, we trust, and Sunderland, keep your beady eyes off him

I expect he'll be back in January. Maybe on a permanent deal? With two midfielders out at Liverpool its just a bit of temporary back up. I think they'll try to buy big in January and then maybe off load Jonjo
Think he enjoyed his trip to the seaside.... and we enjoyed having him.

You're right Sher thats the big question. We would be in poll position to sign him but would Karl step up to the plate???. Perhaps more accurately would he compete with a over-valued offer........er...................no.
Jonjo and Baps are two big holes to fill over Xmas though. Time for the sqad to play its part.
