As most here will realise, over the last year, I've probably been Gilks' biggest critic.
However, whilst I still feel there are area of his game he can improve, I have to say that so far this season his attitude, which was always my main criticism, appears to be spot on and he really seems committed to the team and working towards getting back to the promised land.
Well done Matt

Hear, hear, April.
Seems like he's buckled down and starting to repay Wee Ollie's faith in him.
Though I'm of the same opinion as yourself re Gilks overall, until we get a suitable, seasoned, challenger for the gloves, he'll have to do the biz.
YL.

I also am one of his biggest critics, so far this season he has impressed, just wish he would learn to acknowledge the fans more and thats not just on match days. get them on your side gilks plus i think his new coach might have something to do with it

I supported him completely. But must admit that George Wood has done a fantastic job with him. But he has had to do the business himself at the end of the day. Long may it continue.

I was also a big critic of his last season and the beginning of this one, not for his goalkeeping but for his attitude. He said some not so nice things about our club and he was quite rightly vilified by the faithful. That would appear to be water under the bridge now and his performances this season have been fantastic. Love us Matty and we will love you, there are no half measures, for me anyway. PS. I always like to watch Matty and the team warming up before a match and a couple of seasons ago Matty would always have a bit of banter with us and then he suddenly seemed to change for some reason. Fast forward to the Millwall game a couple of weeks ago. Gilks is warming up with George Wood. I am watching from behind the goal as always and a young fan asks Matty for his autograph. Matty climbs over the hoardings and duly obliges and gets a rollicking off George Wood for breaking off from his routine. The lad cant win really can he,,,,,lol. UP THE POOL

He must see he made a mistake in the summer and I dont think there was many fans incuding myself who wanted him to stay after what he said but I do seem to remember when it came out he was staying that he would probably have the season of his life. He kept us in a few games early on in the season while things were still coming together with new signings ( could well be Player of the year if he carries on)
