Looks like somebody has been given a right old bollocking at the club, must have had Karl reaching for the Pills and a stiff gin and tonic
at 08:06 am yesterday morning the following appeared on the Blackpool FC - Official Site
With the January transfer window wide open, Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston has revealed that the Seasiders will be active in the transfer market once again.
While the same window 12 months ago was dominated by Charlie Adam's transfer saga, there were also the arrivals of five new faces.
Sadly those acquisitions failed to save the club from relegation and with Oyston and manager Ian Holloway admitting to mistakes made a year ago; it would seem that a policy of quality over quantity will be adopted this time around.
Now any agent reading that would think by god Karl is going to spend but fear not fellow poolers just fast forward 6 hours and at 2.06pm the same day it was reissued with the following added lol
"I've made my views clear previously on last season's window and the manager has made his clear," said Oyston.
"He's got a point when he says we should do our work in the summer and that the January window is a sideshow and media frenzy and a time when desperate clubs buy players.
"It's always a very difficult time to buy or do sensible deals. We'll try and bring in one or two players - probably loan players because the quality of loan players from Premier League clubs is often better than permanent signings from lower leagues.
"We'll see what happens, I'll be guided by the manager and I'll see what he wants.
"We'll put in offers as well and there will no doubt be a few refusals from one or two but it's not something that we'll lose our heads over."
The loan market was one that proved fruitful for Blackpool in the promotion-winning campaign two years ago and it has already played a telling role this season.
Liverpool's Jonjo Shelvey struck six times in a 10-game loan spell for the club before his return to Anfield at the start of December, while winger Callum McManaman has also impressed during his temporary stay.
And with that approach reaping evident dividends Oyston is keen to continue on the same, successful path at the start of a new year.
"Loan players played a massive part in us getting promoted. Players who were loaned and others who were previously loaned and signed permanently did fantastically well and it would be foolish of us to deviate from what has brought us success.
"Having said that I think we'll end up doing a bit of both. We've already brought in one loan player (Danny Wilson) and we'll look at putting some offers to clubs for some permanent deals as well.
"I never set targets, I just continue to work in the way that's achieved success in the past and make sure we don't make any of the mistakes in the past that we've made.
"I'd rather learn from those than make targets. It's working for us at the moment; it's seen us rise from one of our lowest ebbs to where we are now.
"It's a fantastic position and it's a joy to run this place at the moment," he added.
Rumors in both the local and national media have linked several Blackpool players with moves to Premier League suitors.
But after riding an incessant transfer storm at the same point last season, allied to the club's added financial strength; it is clear that any interest will a very firm response.
"We've had interest already for our players. The answer was a firm no and we're probably one of the worst clubs to buy players from given our financial strength.
"It's an enviable position to be in. We didn't have to sell last January and we made sure that we didn't despite all the pressure from various places.
"It wouldn't be of any benefit to Ian or our chances of getting promoted if we started selling our key players so we've absolutely no intention of doing so."
