The following is in the gazette
POOL fans had better make the most of Mark Howard – the keeper may not be around much longer.
Sensational since stepping in for the injured Matt Gilks, Howard’s short-term contract is up at the end of the month.
And with other clubs sniffing, boss Ian Holloway admits he fears losing the 25-year-old unless a fresh deal can be struck.
The manager said: “At the moment there is a risk of losing Mark. Do I want to? No. But will we be held over a barrel? No, that doesn’t happen here.
“The fact that Mark is out of contract is something we had to put up with. We had no choice about that at the time.
“We are trying to renegotiate with him and that is good. The chairman agrees with that.
“How that is going to pan out, who knows? I am not dealing with it.
“Sometimes things are harder (at this club) than they need to be because people are stubborn – more stubborn than they need to be.”
Not sure who Ollie is refering to when he talks about being stobborn. Howard, Howards agent, or more worryingly KO??
Howard has been in great form and quite a find. I would say at least equal to Gilks. Just hope this gets sorted out very soon.
we need to keep this squad together if we are serious about promotion.
Hate this transfer window and I betya Ollie does too!

Would be a poor show if he left, as for the stubborn bit, if it had been Howard or his agent he wouldn't have said (at this club).

I really hope hat for once being stubborn does no get in the way of sorting this out. It has been many years now since pool have had 2 keepers that could both be number 1 plus with Gilks picking up injures he last 2 seasons we need a good keeper.
so come on Karl and Mark sort it out please Karl don't be to mean and Mark don't be to greedy after all you could have found yourself stacking shelfs this season if it was not for pool.

How often in the past two/three seasons have we lost a (good/very good) player through the ineptitude of KO (and others?) with leaving the signing on or re-signing of someone until the last minute, the player gets fed up with waiting for 'Pool to do the needful as regards a contract, and b- off somewhere else, frustrated with the carry-on perpetuated by the likes of Karl & Co.?.
Why can't the silly t**t wake up and stop pottering about?

In my opinion he has a choice. Play for the mighty Pool or leave and rot, his choice. UTMP.

He's been in talks with, inter alia, Fleetwood Town.....
who have offered him first team wages
which would be considarably more than the reserve team wages at 'Pool....?

"Inter alia" defo not Italian as in "Inter Milan", and most certainly not Turkish ;D surprisingly. It's from the Latin, and roughly means " amongst others" not that I took that Lingo at School - French for me. Though, I'd say there's no "ambition" going from a Championship side to the Conference.....

So we are happy to let a keeper go, just as good as Gilks if not better and now have to hunt around for another, because it will be amazing if Gilks dosn't get injured again this season. I don't want to see us end up like Portsmouth but surely we could have matched Fleetwood re wages etc, if true.

I'm confident that he was offered enough.
How does a keeper that good end up with no club? He was released by Aberdeen wasnt he before we signed him on a week to week contract? There is more to the player than meets the eye.
If he doesnt want to play for us then thankyou and goodbye.

Maybe Fleetwood will go the way of Pompey. Unsustainable on their income, rich geezer with business under pressure has to move on, highly paid stars take all the dosh, bye bye
And any player who would prefer the Conference/Lg2 to Championship/Prem isn't very confident, is he?
Move on, nothing to see here LOL

Hails from Southwark, London, started with Arsenal but never made an appearance for the first team, although he was an unused substitute during the 2005 Community Shield.
Went on loan to Falkirk in January 2006, where he made eight appearances. On his loan period ending that the summer, he was released by Arsenal. He was offered a permanent contract with Falkirk, but instead joined Cardiff City.
Only made two appearances for Cardiff, then joined Swansea City on loan for a month in January 2007 and he was released by Cardiff at the end of the 2006–07 season.
He then joined St. Mirren. making his debut on the 13 February 2008, keeping a clean sheet against Dundee United in a Scottish Cup match. He made his league debut three days later as St Mirren were stuffed in a 4–0 defeat by Falkirk.
In July 2010, Howard signed a one-year deal at Aberdeen.
Personally, I think he had too much competition to overcome at Pittodrie, and on 23 September 2011, Howard signed a five-month contract with Blackpool. making his full debut for the club on Boxing Day in a 3–1 victory at Barnsley whilst Gilks was out injured.
So, technically, he is still our player........
I agree with Sandy when he states "There is more to the player than meets the eye" as I thought something was a bit fishy up north, from what my spies informed me of.
and with only Halstead as our other 'keeper, if he goes, we need to bring in a new stopper p.d.f.

after a bit of and a bit of arm twisting it turns out that he wanted 1,600 a week and our final offer was 1,200 and his agent say no so Karl said bye bye. Personally i think the lad will regret it more than we will but it is a crying same because its the first time in ages that we have had somebody as good if not better than our 1st choice keeper

We must have been able to strech to anoth £200 and met half way.
Now we have to lookfor another good keeper who doesn't mind a low wage or but a keeper better than Gilks

but maybe then it could cause problems with other players wages etc plus our opening offer was 700 quid a week so we increased it by 500 which in itself must have given Karl a blood rush

£1200 PW (plus bonuses no doubt) is plenty for a reserve keeper. I understand Gilks was only paid £800pw last time we were in the Championship but he's done quite well since (£1600 plus bonuses?). Has the lad ever heard of re-negotiating a contract after proving his worth.
Sign a short term contract you muppet.
Too Greedy.
Probably never hear of him again unless he changes his mind pretty sharpish.
