so much for this weeks weekly poll lol
Fabio Capello has resigned as England manager, the Football Association has confirmed.
Capello resigned after a meeting with FA chairman David Bernstein and general secretary Alex Horne at Wembley.
An FA statement read: "The Football Association can confirm that Fabio Capello has today resigned as England manager."
On Monday, the Italian publicly challenged the FA's decision to strip John Terry of the captaincy.
The FA's statement continued: "The discussions focused on the FA Board's decision to remove the England team captaincy from John Terry, and Fabio Capello's response through an Italian broadcast interview.
"In a meeting for over an hour, Fabio's resignation was accepted and he will leave the post of England manager with immediate effect."
Bernstein said: "I would like to stress that during [the] meeting and throughout his time as England manager, Fabio has conducted himself in an extremely professional manner.
"We have accepted Fabio's resignation, agreeing this is the right decision. We would like to thank Fabio for his work with the England team and wish him every success in the future."
A media conference with Bernstein and the Club England management team will take place at Wembley Stadium on Thursday at 1200 GMT.
The FA will not be making any further comment until the media conference.

I just hope its a part time post being England manager is not a full time post..
As for the team please cull all players over 28 and take a young squad a squad who's target should be the next world cup lets stop mucking around and make a tough but correct choice and start from scratch

I am genuinely surprised Delighted, though, but they are going to have to get someone in pdq, hope they don't go for an old one.

Pearce in as caretaker, Harry to have a part time managers role until the Euro's.
Capello, I can see why he took the stance, not interested in anything but what goes on on the pitch. However, disagree with his ethics.
Now just to get rid of Terry, Lumphard , Ferdinand and the other fogies.

At least with psycho in temp charge, there is not going to be any dressing room problems as he will just knock them out

Well at least he shouldn't get a Sven style pay off seeing that he resigned.
The Euro 96/France 98 teams were good but both managers got sacked just when it looked like they were getting somewhere.
I see Gus Hiddick has put his name in the hat, I would like to see a English manager but after Redknapp (and Ollie) don't think there is any one good enough. Or do we look for a Scottish manager lol they seem to be the most successful in league football.

He has been given a payout to keep his mouth shut, so he walks in resigns and walks out with a cheque its unbelievable

Ironic that Head of RBS gets publicly humiliated about a bonus agreed by our government for £1.5 mil in shares and feels he has to hand it back whilst Capello gets the same amount to keep his gob shut and no-one bats an eyelid.
Not defending either one but it shows how crazy the world has become

I think Euro 96 was the las time we looked like we could win a trophy
If Redknapp doesn't get the job I think it is a lottery for who will be next manager

My preference would be that they'll give it to Psycho in a 'Caretaker' capacity, with 'Arry doing the business (jointly with Psycho?) from the season-end for the duration of the Finals. Then they'll (FA) get down to brass tacks and sort it out permanently. My choice would be HR on a permanent basis but he's going to cost the FA a few bob, and the rest, in compo. Having said that, despite HR saying he would like the job he is also quoted saying that he prefers the day-to-day business of working with players, something he won't get being England manager.

Not sure 'Arry the used car-salesman would be the right choice. Do we really want a manager who's bigger than the team ?
For me there's only one man for the job but I doubt the FA will want him (and if they do, hopefully, Karl won't let him go)
So in that case, I'd give it to Pardew given what he's acheiving with the Barcodes

Whilst the job must be the pinnacle to any career it comes with so much hope and pressure.
Are we really as good as think we are?
In one of the our local rags they mentioned the potential list of managers and believe it or not Ollie was mentioned as the outsider.
Dont know where they got the article from.
I watched the game on Wednesday, excellent result.

Ollie will always be like another manager that never gets the job because he speaks his mind like clough did.
Plus how is the job full time? really come on you pick the best players that are available you get them for 3 days before a match or 2 weeks before a tournament and that is the time you have to work with them.
At least with Ollie it would be attacking and entertaining
It would be like the film mike basset England manager lol
