I'm reserving judgment on this until the facts come to light but there are a number of possibilities.
Is it simple loan repayments plus a dividend. If so whats the split?
is it some sort of tax avoidance scheme?
Or is it simply a greedy owner milking our club.
I wouldn't trust Mr Oyston Snr to mind my pint!
I've always supported the way Karl runs the club but for the first time I have a huge question mark.
I hope we are given a reasonable explanation. If non is forthcoming then the FA have to ask themselves some questions about the terms the clubs must adhere to to receive league money.
I find it incredible that they would simply deposit the cash and then leave it 100% to the Directors to decide where it goes.
As I said I'm just going to wait a while yet because nothing is ever black and white. I only hope we do not meet a wall of silence but a sensible reasoned response.
Remember Karl....no fans...no Club! We deserve an explanation.

Hope it's untrue as i feel sick to my stomach! If true we all now know why he's a scrooge and has caps on everything then, and all promises are a forgoten past because the oystons are lining their own pockets from bleeding the club dry. Prove me wrong Karl or get out!!!!

I hope there is a reason for it, just as they were winning alot of fans over this could turn them all against them again.

well i believe he has every right personally, each to their own view. think he might have gone about it the wrong way but dammed if they do dammed if they don't.
Karl might be chairman but he does not pull the strings and his salary was 67,000

Every right to repayment of past loans plus interest plus a whacking bonus dividend but £11m is just unbelievably excessive.
just wonder whether its a cut and run exercise for OO. Watch this space!
Wouldn't be surprised to see OO handing over his shares to Karl very soon then finding a nice beach to sit on and count his wad.

If there is a good reason behind it fair enough but if it is just a payment Karls stand for "£10,000 a week is enough for anyone to live on" makes him look a bit silly

I wondered the same. Pete, passing the reins, etc.
They never have been any good at PR, despite being good businessmen.
Trouble is, all this nonsense quite rightly takes everyone's eye off the real task in hand for us, supporting in another excellent run, and getting behind Ollie and the boys.

okay you can chose to believe me or take it with a pinch of salt but i don't want any falling outs over this very sensitive issue with us the humble fans.
Having been somebody that has spent many hours in his and families company i can assure you all that nobody loves BFC more than Owen and its never been about being a case of making a fast profit.
He got involved in 1987 and took over in 88 now 22 years later he takes back 11 million.
Yes its been done maybe the wrong way but its a real simple reason that at the end of this season Karl will be the Major share holder in the club.
We all get frustrated at delays of things being done but that is the business model, nothing ever gets rushed into and in most cases not till a secondary income can be derived from the next stage which i think is prudent to ensure it also generates a separate income.
Take the SE corner yes its been delayed but does anybody know why? some would have you believe its because of not wanting to pay builders or this that and the other, when in truth its far simpler.
The architect's where fired for getting the width and height of the access tunnel wrong which would have resulted in a fire engine unable to gain access to the stadium thus no fire certificate ,so new architects had to be employed and all the internal pluming and wiring re-done.
Yes maybe they need to work on communication with the fans but they do care about the club

There you go............simple really
Why can't they just say that?
You never get the full picture from a set of accounts and we have no right to pry but the family need to keep the fans onboard. Unlike any other business we have a stake, albeit an emotional one.
I feel better now!
OK lets get promoted again and put this nonsence to bed.

So it's all just muck-raking by the Fail on Sunday !!
Must have been short of stories about Immigration !!
If at the end of the day it's just OO recovering the money he's invested in the club over the last 2 decades, all well and good, at least he's left us as one of the few financially secure clubs in the top four levels of English football. Imagine what would happen if Abramovich ever wanted to get his investment in Chelsea back.
Just seems a shame that a few on here obviously took a wrong turn on their way to AVFTT and posted the usual anti-Oyston vitriol & rhetoric.
Really makes me wonder why I bother !!!

Just think people are puzzled why it has come out like it has but they never been good with PR and the press since Owen's court case.
Just shows that people care about the club and how passionate they are regarding the pool.
as for avftt not even bothered looking as i can imagine what is being said on their and many other places as well.
will be interesting what the gazette does though this morning

Like previous posts why didn't they come out and just say it instead of it coming out when the accounts are issued.
I think they need to find a good PR man to let the fans know what is going on.

I forgot to post the other day.
I was walking past the ground with my son duing the half term holidays and saw Karl and Mark Bradley looking out of the gap in the stand (maybe he was being told the cost of the extra work).
They looked like they was having a serious coversation though whatever they were talking about.

Cheers, Sherl, normal service is resumed.
As you do know them a bit, though, just suggest to them they employ an occasional good PR person, could help them make even more money! I take April's point, and was hoping for an explanation like this, but they also have responsibilities themselves.
SE corner story makes interesting reading, and is all too believable. They built a new house opposite us a couple of years ago, the architect sited it wrong, and the end wall should have been built where the next door house was.
I sometimes wonder if KO gets a kick out of being disliked, whatever floats your boat.
Come on the Mighty Pool, onwards and upwards

Jonjo on loan, with a view to a permanent, and a win tomorrow will do for starters.
We're so fickle aren't we ?
Just worried that the fans are going to turn against the owners just a the wrong time. I have noticed what can only be put kindly as a more "demanding" crowd over recent months. Certainly no party atmosphere of 2010.
It does effect they players!
We will see.

I've never been either in the Pro-Oyston camp or anti-Oyston. I think they must have been doing something right to have kept us not only afloat but debt-free all these years and also for Belekon to make his investment. As others have said, we don't know how much OO has put into the club over the years. However, I just think they've shot themselves in the foot here, though, due to abysmal PR and the headline figure of £11 million. If OO is just getting back what he's put in, why couldn't it have been done on a phased basis? Fans would be much more understanding if this had been the case and the figure had been more like, say, £2m. They've also exposed themselves to a load of criticism because Ollie has had to work in the transfer and loan markets with great limitations and also the wages on offer at BFC are well known as being much less than at other Championship clubs. I just hope it doesn't derail the excellent work ollie and the boys are putting in on the "training ground" and the "pitch". UTP!

I'm sure both Karl and Owen view employing a PR professional in pretty much the same way as a bet on the National. ie a waste of good money. Is there such a thing as a media/PR professional at BR?
If you get a good one, with a proven track record, its pretty amazing what can be achieved and worth every penny. It can boost your sponsorship deals, increase the fan base, sell you more shirts etc, in short... get you noticed.. but in a good way.
On top of that we could really do without negative press just as everyone is starting to love us. The Press, TV and social media etc need to be managed correctly or you will just get shafted. Cummon Karl its 2012, get some help and don't think you can get away with one of these new government "back to work" schemes to fill the vacancy.

Yes, it's about time you came clean, Mr Sherlock -your business dealings with OO and KO, etc are affecting the club, the players, and fans your PR stinks - US, the FANS demand to know what's happening at BR we pay our hard earned at the gate (or wherever) and never see or hear what it's spent on and how a little bit of truth must be forthcoming about the 'training ground' and 'pitch' you need to be more communicative with the fans and media let us know what's going on when how why it is OUR club - our LIVES if you did one modicum of the above, you might, just might, in a minuscule, perverse way, endear yourself to the fans a little bit more though I notice your name isn't amongst those listed as 'director' 'boot-room bod' or whatever..... so we should be thankful for small mercies...
